Abraham Lincoln is one of the most known people in early american history, he has been known for being the president of the USA during the civil war.Abe has always been against slavery. During he was the president he was against slavery and became an abolitionist during his terms. Which started the civil war. Born in a log cabin in Hardin County, Kentucky, Abe had an older sister named sarah and a younger brother named thomas. He was 9 years old when his mother died. In Abe’s later days and was in wrestling and would lose about 1 match through 300 matches. Abe lived a pretty hard life and he was in a poor family. During his childhood he lived a pretty good life and was taught well. “Abraham Lincoln, a self-taught Illinois lawyer and legislator with a reputation as an eloquent opponent of slavery, shocked many when he overcame several more prominent contenders to win the Republican Party’s nomination for president in 1860.” …show more content…

He distributed $2 million from the Treasury for war material without an appropriation from Congress and sent 75,000 men to go and fight in the war (American History.com). When the war ended abe was on his last months of being president. Abe went to a theatre after the war and was assassinated by actor John Wilkes booth. After he shouted “The south has been avenged” and fled on horseback. To this day people know how Abe was assassinated and is very well known. To this day Abraham lincoln is very well known. People know what he did and what he changed while being president during the civil war. While being president he saved millions of slaves and allowed them to be free. People know how he was and abolitionist and how he changed millions of lives. Once the civil war ended he was assassinated 5 days later.
