I recently had the opportunity to listen to Addie Kingsland from the University of Washington graduate school talk about her research in DNA mutations, as well as her experience in getting into grad. school. Kingsland started her presentation by explaining how she decided to go to grad school. She explained that she graduated from the University of Utah, and with no plans to attend grad school, she started working at various jobs involving chemistry. After a few years, she decided that she wanted to advance further in her career and applied to University of Washington’s graduate school. It was there that Kingsland started her research in mismatched DNA pairs. Kingsland explained that these mismatched base pairs can cause biological problems
