To what extent had the colonists developed a sense of their identity and unity as Americans by the eve of the Revolution? The American Revolution was something that is greatly praised in modern day North America. How did we get here? How did we get to become ONE nation under God?

The American Revolution had a lot of causes leading up to writing the Declaration of Independence. There were many causes leading up to this but some important ones are taxes, the battles, and the 1st and 2nd Continental Congress. Taxes were a big cause in the American Revolution.
Not so long after, problems arose with the governmental system and our founding fathers gathered and started considering different ideas to improve the governmental structure. Large and small states had different suggestions on what should be done to solve the problem. Yet, two things remained clear; Americans feared the British system and wanted nothing similar to it and, the Articles of Confederation had proved inefficient due to the restricted power of the federal government. Two main plans were the reason of debate, the battle was between the federalist and the antifederalist. When the founders developed and drafted the U.S. Constitution, much contemplation and reflection was put into it. In Benjamin Franklin’s Address of Prayer he explains how different forms of government had been examined to create the best government possible. “We have gone back to ancient history for models of government, and examined the different forms of those Republics” (Palmer, 68). The Articles of Confederation were drafted during the Revolution in a time of crisis to unite the States, but it had many faults and was not strong enough to maintain the nation’s unity. Drafters of the Constitution saw many problems with the Articles of Confederation.

The American Revolution War began in April of 1775 and ended in 1783. It lasted about eight years, The war was between Great Britain and the thirteen colonies. The colonist thought that the king began abusing his power and began taking advantage of them. The colonist left their motherland to the New World to get a new life and start over. At the beginning they thanked the king for the opportunity but there came a point where the colonist began seeing the king as a tyrant.
The question is how the revolutionary war changed America. The American Revolution instigated much change within the newly independent nation, particularly political and social, and to a lesser extent, economically. Although there was a slow change in America socially there was a lot of change politically the colonist rebelled against the king. America had some social change women, and slaves experienced change in society as women gained more freedoms and many slaves were set free. Overall, our nation experienced the majority of its change politically, and social issues, but change was still seen to a lesser extent economically.

Prior to 1765, colonists continued to live under British rule. The colonists grew tired of British telling them what they can and cannot do, so they decided to revolt. In 1765 the colonists were ready for change, and the American Revolution kicked off. The American Revolution changed America completely, and the colonists’ that inhabited it. It produced a new outlook on the colonists after finally receiving their freedom.
Did the American Revolution really change society? Would this fight for independence even be considered a Revolution? The American Founding lasted for twenty five years from 1775-1800. During that time, the United States declared and won its independence, a gradual revolution in the political, social, and economic landscape was begun that was not completed by 1800. Some noticeable steps were made to create a revolution.
Prior to the American Revolution, the American People were under the rule of the British government. Due to the mistreatment, the Americans wanted to rebel and become free of British rule. In order to do so, they partook in the event of the American Revolution. During the American Revolution, there were many smaller battles and war within the overall war to achieve freedom. For Instance, the first battle was the Battle of Lexington and Concord.
Due to numerous conflicts that Great Britain and America had, had with each other; American had finally decided to attempt to declare independence from Great Britain. With all the laws and (several) acts trying to be passed through congress that had caused Americans to become exasperated with Great Britain. America felt that Great Britain did not really have their best interest in mind. Not a single one of these laws were not in thee American’s favor. American’s had finally decided to enough was enough.
The new constitution, a document granting the framework for a new democratic government, replacing the Articles of the Confederation. This new document gained approval from some of the citizens, but also raised questions and concerns from others. There was a constant back and forth between the two groups on whether or not the constitution should be ratified. This editorial provides historical background on the issue and expresses my opinion on which side I would’ve chosen.
