Throughout all the myths and stories, the lesson that is so obviously told is do not anger the Gods. Yes, to them the Gods were the creators of their world as they knew it. Yes, they felt that the Gods should be worshipped by making temples and statues, but there comes a point were the people all around Greece lived in fear of disappointing or angering the Gods. These myths floating around Greece tell both of love, loss, heartbreak, etc. The relationship between the Gods and humans was a complicated one. The Gods think because they have the special powers to change the weather, the sea, or the ground they walk on that they can do basically whatever they want. They rape all kinds of men, women, and creatures because they want them. They punish those who offend them, but do not look at the whole story of what happened. The Gods felt that they had every right to do what they did when they did it just because they were Gods. Human beings were just the lesser people that were created to worship them. In the God’s they were perfect and did everything without mistake. When humans challenged them, their automatic instinct was punishment. Heaven forbid, that there would be a mortal that was slightly better at something than a god was. The stories of Lycaon, Actaeon, Arachne, and so many others prove this to be true. They just cannot handle themselves not being perfect in their responsibilities. The Gods did have a heart every once in awhile like with the couple of Baucis and Philemon, but it would never last. When you proceed to commit unjust acts, you will be punished in a sense to restore the balance of good. If you commit righteous acts you will be praised with favorable feedback. Meanwhile, Homer’s vision of the gods is they focus on glory, honor, and moderation, not justice. If a person dishonors someone, they are the ones to ultimately pay and be dishonored in the end. The gods in Homer’s stories are “…interested in the affairs of mortals, but only insofar as they are entertained or their honor is touched” (Melchert 7).
Humans and the gods both have the same mentality that they are better
They are allowed to interfere with humans in certain ways to certain extents, they have rules, and by punishing/rewarding humans, they create an order of morals/hierarchy so they serve a purpose as well. This presentation of the gods reveals that the Greeks see them as powerful, smarter, and "magically" significant beings. I think that the story shows that they see the Gods to be like us, but with power and authority.

Speaking of enforcement, even though the Gods blatantly break their own rules, they also never get punished! There really isn't anyone to punish those at the top, so the only punishment they recieve are the consequences of their actions which never really affect them
Gods are represented as superior leaders and humans look up to them. Human were also destruction to earth in the god’s eyes. Gods have also thought humans were very different than them. Unfortunately gods/goddesses had very human flaws. Although human saw gods has perfect people, gods had very human flaws such as fear, jealousy, and being narcissistic.
Humans are like puppets; they have the freedom of choice however their decisions are constantly interfered by the gods.
