Elizabeth is on the right side of the frame (our view) and the door is open on the left side of the frame. However Elizabeth is asking Lionel to counsel Bertie with his stutter as he has lost hope. The open door signifies the honesty of the discussion between Elizabeth and Lionel and helps to express the message of the frame. In comparison the King’s Speech is saturated with dull colours, off centered camera shots and close up images. These elements help us to understand and relate to the emotions of all the characters. The cinematography chosen also depicts the narrative of the desperation Bertie had for help. In In A Beautiful Mind the colours are bright and vibrant. These colours express John Nash’s emotions of hope. The lighting of the bright colours help the viewer. John is in his “own world”. However John does not know his condition throughout the film and there is light colours to show his happy emotions and extreme close ups to help us follow his
The Fighter is a movie based on a true story about Micky Ward. The movie was about a man struggling to make it in the boxing world. Micky has many challenges facing him, but somehow, he overcomes them all and wins a title fight. The movie shows that no matter what adversity a person has in their life if they keep fighting for their dreams and never give up, they might just win. The Fighter used many different types of shots and camera angles and heights through-out the movie.
A scene which utilizes lighting most effectively is in the Proctor house when John and Elizabeth are in a heated conversation about what their relationship has developed into. Overall, the lighting in the Proctor house is poor and dim, especially compared to other settings within the movie, such as the courthouse or Parris’ home, which are generally well lit. This lack of light gives off a cold, gloomy tone for the scene. This tone then evokes the idea that things may be hostile within the relationship between Proctor and Elizabeth. The lighting can also characterize the individuals in the scene.
This is showing how Macbeth was weakening after running into the witches that he had to tell his lady about this hysterical prophecy he has stumbled into. This is the weakness of Macbeth portrayed through Lady Macbeth. Clearly, there are many reasons and different people we can truly blame for the downfall of this mighty warrior. But, personally I believe it is Lady Macbeth and her ways of matriarchy, power and weakness she bring out in Macbeth that in the end, leads to his treacherous
Shot 1: 1:53:24-1:53:34 (10 seconds). Image: This shot is a bird’s eye view medium shot and it begins as a continuation of the pan from the previous shot that it faded from. The camera moves from edge of Jane’s bedroom and pans to the right. In the image the audiences see Jane and Ricky lying down together hugging.
The camera always stays within the vicinity of focusing on his face despite constantly moving. In the recording room, the close-up shots capture the intimacy between the King and his instructor as they are standing on opposite ends of the microphone basked in soft natural light from a nearby window. As the music becomes louder, the scenes switch back and forth from the listening British citizens to the King who is in front of the recording microphone and occasionally to Logue gesturing the King with his hands. The music peaks when Bertie's speech is about to end and stops abruptly when it does.
The films One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest and, A Beautiful Mind portray Hollywood images of the treatment. It pictures the dramatic scene of a pleading patient dragged to a treatment room, forcibly administered electric currents as his jaw clenches, his back arches, and his body shakes while being held down by burly attendants or by foot and wrist restraints. The truth is that patients are not covered into treatment. They may be anxious and reluctant, but they come willingly. They have been told why the treatment is recommended, the procedures have been explained, and many have seen videos images of the procedures.
Guilt is a theme that Ordinary People and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest recognize. Ordinary People revolves around two perspectives coming from a father and son about the death of a loved one. However, in the clip from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Nurse Ratched and Billy are two characters who are polar opposites from one another. Furthermore, the power of guilt compels the two protagonists in both works.
We then cut to a wide angle shot of Deckard standing at the entrance to the room, there is a bright white light
Tim Burton used color’s saturation and brightness to compare something to its surroundings. For example, in Edward Scissorhands, the last scene, we see what Edward is sculpting ice in the shape of Kim. The ice is extremely bright in contrast to the darkness of the castle. This illustrates the bright effect Kim had on Edward’s life. This compares to the other movie; in Sweeney Todd, the blood is overly saturated to an almost comical point, showing the ultimate bloodlust that Sweeney Todd feels.
Therefore, the color can give audiences totally different feeling when the director use different type of color in different moments because the colors can present characters’ emotions even the characters do not need any
Tim Burton 's use of this helps show the contrast of the insider and outsider world. When the viewer is watching they get a sense of suspense and start to second guess whether or not they should trust the outsider. In Edward Scissorhands Burton uses a high-key low-key light contrast when Peg is in her car and sees Edward 's house in her side mirror. When the viewers are watching they get a frightened sense and wonder whether or not Edward or whomever is in the house will
La La Land, directed by Damien Chazelle, has won many awards and is about the love story between Sebastian and Mia, who come together because of their common goal of making it big time in Hollywood. The scene that follows is when they are having dinner after some time apart. It portrays the theme of how change can affect relationships. Initially in the scene, the camera is placed over the shoulder of Sebastian, with the view of Mia as they are having a conversation over dinner. This is a two shot scene accompanied by very minimal editing, indicating they are sharing the frame as a couple.
The final scene uses a lot of close up shots to capture the emotions of Romeo and Juliet, we see a lot of anguish and hopelessness in Romeo’s face when he sees Juliet dead, and we see joy in her face when she first opens her eyes and sees Romeo, but that quickly morphs into shock and heartbreak when she sees him dying. The use of close up shots was very effective because it allowed the audience to really feel the emotions portrayed in the scene. A long shot was used in the inside of the church to capture all the interior details of the church. After they are both dead, an overhead shot is used to show them lying next to each other to symbolise their eternal love and peace in each other. In the Great Gatsby, we see a long panning shot of his house, and the lake to show how abandoned it looks.
Standing outside of Olly’s house are Olly and Maddy and the scene looks very realistic. The distance is short and the scene is between medium and a close-up because we can see the subjects and the setting, the camera
