We are in a world where people obsess with taking pictures of themselves. People go to great lengths to look good and make sure that everything looks perfect. But what if, we couldn’t take a picture wherever or whenever. Go back in time where you couldn’t fix pictures or have money to take one. A picture can say many things about a person. It was simpler before, it was in black and white and someone else had to take the picture. Looking at the two black and white pictures of the man, a person can see a part of there life 's. Like in the two photographs of Robert E.Lee and Ulysses S. Grant, they were very different leaders and they stood for different things and it shows in their pictures. Grant and Robert E. Lee. Both are in black and white. In Grant 's photo he is wearing run down faded pants that looks a size too big and wore down unbuttoned jacket. This shows what type of work he did and what kind of man he is. His unclean clothes tells others that he is proud of his imperfection and that he works hard and isn 't afraid to get dirty. He is also wearing a cowboy hat, and is leaning a arm on a pole looking somewhere past the camera. Which shows that he doesn’t care what other people think, and he is looking out over his land that he is proud of how far he his come. Also a person can tell a lot from what 's in the background of a picture, as in his is outdoors and in an campground. Giving a personal look where he may live or work. That shows a sense of community and his caring for society, like he out there to protect people around him. Catton wrote that Grant "embodied nothing in particular except the eternal toughness and sinewy fiber of the men grew up beyound the moutains" (page 376), this picture show all those personality traits from his clothing, to his …show more content…
He wore a coat that 's buttoned with his hat in his hand and dark pants that make him look clean and ready. Which is a proper thing to do as a sign of respected and shows that he grow up the proper way. He is standing up straight with his other hand on his sword pointed down to the ground, showing off that he knows how to fight. And that he 's proud of fighting for is land and somewhat higher up then others, a leader not a follower. From the picture he was stands was grounded, standing up straight and is facing the camera and looking directly at a person. Which gives people the impression that he is some kind of upper class and noble therefore, more important. As for Lee 's background it was taken indoors. Perfectly clean and nothing around him, putting all of the focus on him and more of a traditional picture. All this gives the feeling "transplanted to a New World... embodied a way of life that had come down through the age of knighthood and English country squite." (page 374) Grant and Lee were different people in many ways, by looking at their pictures. On the one hand Lee gives people a look into his life and Lee shows he took time and made it to show off him the best. These pictures can also be for different purposes. Maybe one is for the newspaper and another is for a polite. We will never know, but people look at a part of someone 's live in a time that will last after they are gone. From these pictures and stories
Albeit General Robert E. Lee wore red and Private Buster Kilrain wore blue, these two men were quite similar in several ways. Each soldier was a leader in a war that they chose to fight in, in order to uphold and defend their respective ideologies. Despite those ideologies being opposite, each felt theirs was superior and in turn was willing to sacrifice his life to protect it and the way of life it afforded. Buster Kilrain and Robert E. Lee were very close in age, Kilrain at the ripe old age of fifty-one and Lee at the slightly riper age of fifty-seven.

From Benn’s facial expression we can interpret that he is very happy to spend the moment with his dad and to share his winning moment with his dad and his fans. The three people are facing towards the camera and it is a close shot. “Flux” is anywhere. It either can “sux” or “rox”. With changes people will change along the way. From appearance, to deep down inside. Many will argue which character in the book has changed, from all of the opinions and reasonings with further evidence, it seems to stand out that Lee has changed the most throughout Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie.
Sports Illustrated hits many Americans in the hearts. By incorporating a picture of Tillman in army fatigues on their magazine cover. Many Americans have fallen family members, who died defending our country. Those who do not have members of their family fighting for freedom still feel a sense of empathy towards Tillman's family, because they would not want this to happen to one of their own ( SI “Remember” n. pag.). Yet, the magazine cover uses additional techniques as
In the year 2105, the American culture is a society that thrives off of the obsession of materialism and gaining the approval of others. Culture tells us to worry about how many “likes” we get on a picture of ourselves or the number of comments that tell us how beautiful or handsome we are. Beauty will fade, but people are willing to do anything that they can to preserve it forever. From plastic surgeries for a thiner nose, to silly home remedies for a wrinkly face, we won’t stop until perfection is achieved. The writings of Nathaniel Hawthorne in the nineteenth century did not differ much from the American culture that we see today.

In 1825, Robert E. Lee attended West Point and graduated second in his class in 1829.
Within the illustration you can see two different ages represented. An old man, portrayed with glasses and walking frame, and the fallen soldiers forever young in the prime of was once their lives. The cartoon represents these soldiers, still marching alongside their veteran mate and comrade represented in the centre of the illustration. The book has different sections of U.S. Grant’s life in different chapters, short enough to explain vaguely most events and go into depth of a few things. The first five chapters, up to page 70, it is about his early life and military. After that is when it goes into his presidential part of his life. These take the most pages and go into more depth of how he handled things, such as (87), leaders of the Republican party would fret over U.S. Grant’s failure to consult them as to the cabinet and other senior appointments.
It happened on, earlier mentioned, September 13, 1862, Col. Colgrove of 27 Indiana Regiment found a copy of the Special order in a field where the soldiers were encamped. It did not take long and General Alpheus Williams received the document. He immediately sent the copy to McClellan with a short note that was emphasizing the importance of the order. The Special Order No. 191 found itself in the Union general´s hands on the same day in was found, and McClellan understood the advantage that was cast upon his army. His famous quote, “Here is a paper with which if I cannot whip Bobby Lee, I will be willing to go home.”
