Having the right knowledge, skills and experience in understanding how children or young people develop are very important tools for early years practitioners. We must put to mind that each child born into this world is unique. Children are born with different characters, their personalities and behaviours are formed and influenced by a variety of factors. These factors may affect their ways of interacting with the environment and community or setting in which they live in. Most of the time, adults mainly focus on the physical development of a child and so quick to base their conclusions or judgement on the physical skills. It is not until we temporarily lose one of our senses, perhaps our noses are bunged up or our ears fell deaf because a of heavy cold, that we start to feel on how we rely on them and how much we suffer when one or more of the senses are not working properly. Sometimes babies are born with sensory impairments and it may take some months before the defect is picked up on. Behaviour Behaviour can have a major impact on child’s development. Children who are un-cooperative, finding it difficult to concentrate, throw regular tantrums, refuse to share or take turns and generally have problems socialising will suffer in terms of development if they are not offered the support they need. Some children are naturally loud and boisterous and find it difficult to slow down and take a rest. These children may be seen as misbehaving when in fact they are simply letting off steam. They may still have to learn what is expected of them and may have difficulty controlling their excitement. Explain the reasons why children and young people’s development may not follow the expected pattern: The reasons why children and young people’s development may not follow the expected patters is due to them maybe having a disability, emotional influences, physical influences, environmental influences, cultural influences, social influences, learning needs and communication skills. Children with disabilities require a lot more support than those without a disability in order to help them develop their skills and become more independent. Disabilities can affect more than one area of a child’s development depending on what disability they have and what support is available in order to help improve the child’s needs etc. Emotionally children are affected due to them maybe having signs of depression where they are quiet than the rest of the children and they shy away from joining in with different activities and getting involved with other children.
To understand the development of children and how they grow the best way is to have a physical contact with them. We create an environment for studying cognitive, social/emotional and physical development of any child we chose. The opportunity to interact with children allowed me to see things that prevented the growth of children and improved the growth of children. Carlton academy gave me the opportunity to understand their development. I went to Carlton academy center on Tuesday from 12:00pm to 2:00 pm or 3:00pm and on Thursday from 3:00pm to 5:00pm or 6:00pm.
Understanding the risk and protective factors of child delinquency is imperative in order to create and implement treatment and intervention programs. Because children’s behavior develops during the first five years, it is important to know what risk and protective factors could increase the likelihood of a child becoming a child offender (Wasserman et al., 2003). Moreover, overcoming the risk factors would help prevent the child offender from becoming a juvenile, and later, adult offender. As Wasserman et al (2003) stated, “risk factors for child delinquency operate in several domains: the individual child, the child’s family, the child’s peer group, the child’s school, the child’s neighborhood, and the media” (pg.1). As one can see, children are exposed to risk in partially every aspect of their lives.

Parentese is higher in pitch, simpler in vocabulary, and shorter in sentence length. The role of parents and other adults in language development is critical. holistic is an important word that is often used in a health and social care context. it is also important in the education arena and you will come across it relatively often. Holistic means of the whole it refers to the fact that anything and everything is the sum of its parts not just one part or another. Emotional – This is a vital part in a child and young person’s development as a child needs to be emotionally secure and have attachments. If they do not have this with certain people such as, parents or carers, it may be difficult for them to emotionally develop. Also, children and young people who have low self –esteem or have very low confidence issues may result in them finding it hard to socialise, build relationships or even engage in learning and may not be encouraged to try out new things. This can then have an increased effect on their overall development.

One of the first values for when a child 's development has been affected, is to put the child first, as we have a duty of care towards them. One way in which we can put a child first, it to ensure that, while they are in the setting, that they get well balanced and nutritional meals, as some families might not be able to afford 3 full meals a day, especially when there are more than one child within. By providing services such as breakfast clubs and free school meals, it means that all children will be getting food which will help with their physical development as they will be getting enough nutrients to fulfil the growth that from their genetics. By putting a child at the centre of care, this could also include using their interests within the setting, as it can help and encourage children to develop their language skills, as they will be more willing to learn.
Preventive approach: Positive reinforcement and redirection would be effective in this case as they would engage in creating a constructive and friendly environment. They would highlight on the curriculum and program structure as the main areas for guiding the child’s behavior which is asserted to be largely determined by the human and physical environment. This two areas are said to be designed with routines, guidelines and schedules for utilizing the children’s physical space and time within a learning environment.
