The National Honor Society is based off of four pillars; Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Scholarship is one of the most important pillars to me. Scholarship means not only doing well in school and getting good grades, but applying what I have learned and using it everyday. I know the importance of education and feel that I am a lifelong learner. I feel very fortunate to have been raised in a family where education is a priority. I was taught to work hard and never give up. Leadership is also a very important pillar in the National Honor Society. A leader is a person who guides others with their actions or words and influences others in a positive way. I feel that I am a leader in many ways. I participate in many different …show more content…
Service to me means, giving your all to you school and community without expecting anything in return. At a young age, I participated in many fundraising events with my dance team where we provided a service to others such as annual car washes, waiting tables at various restaurants, and organizing dances and activities for kids. In Junior High I was a key club member and we volunteered for concession stand duties, helped out at elementary basketball tournaments, and acted as line judges or referees at volleyball tournaments. Since my mom is a first grade teacher, I spent many summers setting up and organizing her classroom, and on my days off from school, I provided kids in my mom’s classroom with help in reading or math. As a part of Earth Week at our school, I did various jobs for people in my community. I believe I display all of the qualities mentioned in the four pillars of National Honor Society. I am a person of good character who displays the six pillars of character in everything I do. I provide leadership and service in many ways and value education as a lifelong learner. Being a member of the National Honor Society would motivate me even more to be the best version of myself and help to create change in positive
The National Honor Society, NHS, was officially started by the National Association of Secondary School Principals in 1921. It started in a Pittsburg high school, but quickly grew throughout the nation. NHS has maintained a long history of admitting exemplary students into the organization. NHS developed four main tenants that have helped guide the purpose, as Zeiger (n.d.) explained: "to create enthusiasm for scholarship; to stimulate a desire to render service; to promote leadership; and to develop character in the students of secondary schools". I have chosen to do the National Honors Society, because it helped me throughout my junior and senior years in high school.
The National Honor Society is based off of four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. School is a really important part of everyone’s life, and I feel blessed that I have had the opportunities that I have had while growing up in McComb Ohio. While attending McComb I have also been blessed with the ability to always succeed in what I do, and I currently have a 4.0 GPA. I have also been blessed with the opportunity to participate in many different activities such as junior high volleyball, school musicals, jazz band, pep band, marching band, concert band, and choir. During my junior and senior year in marching, concert, and pep band I was first chair clarinet and section leader, specifically during senior year I was a field
National Honor Society has shown me that small acts of kindness or service are all it takes to make a difference in the lives of our community members. Pelé says that success is found through, “...hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice…” These principles also apply to the characteristics of the person it takes to be an influential person in society and have an impact on our community. National Honor Society has been a great way for me and my peers to hold ourselves accountable to these standards and has been an outlet to make a difference in the world around us. However, it is not just about giving back to the community but also growing as humans through the projects we serve in.
Accordingly, there are four pillars of national honor society. These pillars can be inside any person Who Obtain Greatness. they can uphold every inch of it deep down. These following are scholarship, leadership, character and service.
What I see as the function of the National Honor Society is to encourage young adults like myself to participate more within their school and community. It allows students the ability to give and serve other people that have done so for them. This group will give many students an eye opening experience on volunteering for fellow citizens. If I were to be selected into the National Honor Society, I would contribute to the group by sharing ideas and giving useful feedback to the other students in the group. I would also provide personal experiences of certain voluntary services that I have completed, if needed.
The five traits of a National Junior Honor Society member are scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. I believe that I have all of these. I show scholarship because I love to learn. I have good grades in my classes. I love to learn new languages and challenge myself to do the very best in my Latin class.
Ever since I was little, my mom stressed me to be a leader. By this she meant don’t be like everyone else and look up to a person, but be the one who everyone looks up to. Being a leader isn’t an easy thing to be because you must be a role model 24/7. In my opinion I’m a leader academically and physically. Excelling when it comes to grades and on the football field.
It is a great honor to be nominated as a member of the National Honor Society. There are many reasons why I want to take part in NHS. One reason why I want to be in it is to continue to grow academically with people who have the same goals as me. I want to be encouraged, not discouraged by the people around me. If I get into NHS, it will give me a lot of opportunities to be a leader.
It is an extraordinary honor to be considered as a candidate for the National Honor Society. Being considered means I have achieved my goal in demonstrating my determination- in school and outside of school- and my willingness to aid people in my community. Being a part of such a prestigious organization is an enormous responsibility to which I will fully devote my time. Ever since I was a freshman, my goal was to work diligently to be among the highest scholars and to be accepted into this scholarly “hall of fame”. Through my relentless hard work and perseverance, I believe that I possess the four characteristics of a National Honor Society member- leadership, service, character, and scholarship.
Four of the most important qualities in life are the four pillars of the National Honor Society. Academics, Character, Leadership, and Service are all required in life to be successful, and be an all around good and respected person. Academics are important for a variety of reasons. In order to be an all around and highly successful adult, you must have all the required education and just really be an intelligent person in general. Having a high intelligence can give you the best advantage to quickly and effectively solve problems that may and will occur in your everyday life.
The National Honor Society is built upon four founding principles: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. I have a high school life filled with dedication to these four principles on the Spiritual standpoint, the Familial level, the Community level and finally at the National level. Moreover, I did begin my dedication to these same four principles even before this starting with the Boy Scouts of America and this commitment will continue along with having a rich future when I reach my fullest potential. I firmly believe that to have academic excellence is giving your best effort to maintain not just having straight As and a high GPA at or close to the edge of attaining a 4.0, but to also have the skills that help you perform your very best in college and beyond. To recap, it is having a well-rounded education with just the right academics and activities best suited to your
National Honor society was established to recognize outstanding high school students. National Honor society recognizes students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of academic success, leadership, character and service. I should be in National Honor Society because I think I represent a lot of the qualities needed to be in this organization. Throughout my years in high school, I have been very involved in the band program here at Langham Creek. As a freshman, I started out in Concert 2 band.
I chose National Honor Society as my most important activity to me. Being a part of National Honor Society means to me that I have accomplished many of my goals in my academic career; such as my grade point average and my upper ranking amongst my fellow classmates. I chose this also because it allows me to be a leader for my classmates and school members.
Service is something that I feel is important and I feel that everyone should give back to their community. I am a product of my community and those around me. It is my responsibility to thank them and serve them in return for their kindness in influencing me.
All members of National Honor Society should have a good character, as I believe I do. Character is very important to me. A person who makes actions that will benefit not only themselves, but others resembles a positive character. Character defines who you are. There is something that was created by the “Character Counts!” organization; in them are the six pillars of positive character.
