Casablanca
Complexity of human relationships is a primary theme of “ Casablanca”. Throughout the movie we are trying to figure out the relationship between the characters, a relationship we don't learn about until about half way into the movie is that the man Ilsa is traveling with is actually her husband, and had been her husband for a while. We can tell pretty early on that there is history between Rick and Ilsa from the moment they saw each other. We are led to find out they were together while she was in Paris and they fell in love with each other barely knowing one another. Rick offers to take her away from all the bad stuff that was going on around them, she agreed, she wanted to meet him at the station. She left a note that Sam had

You could tell that they at least had to have been friends because she asked sam to play a song he said he didn't know what she was talking about but he played the song Ilsa wanted to hear and as she asked him to sing it he repeated he didn't remember it so she hummed it for him and he began to sing it. As he played the song, Rick came out in a hurry slamming on the piano saying “ I thought I told you never to play that song”. The relationship between Ilsa and Sam is not well shown in the film of the movie, besides the fact that you can tell they knew each other. All we know about Sam is that he has been with Rick and is a real friend as he tries to keep Ilsa away from the same and denies playing him “As time goes by” because he is emotional and drunk. We later are shown a conversation between Rick and Ilsa about exit visas to get to America and he and her get into an argument and she openly admits that at the time in Paris she could not leave him because she had a husband. Rick eventually tells her he is not going to give her the visas and then her husband calls her away from the conversation. In the end he ended up giving Ilsa and Laszalo the exit visas even know that meant never seeing Ilsa …show more content…
One of the really big ones you see almost as soon as the movie starts is that Ilsa has had an affair with Rick as her husband was in a concentration camp. Throughout the film Ilsa has led on Rick after she appears in Casablanca up until the point of telling him that the man she is traveling with is her husband, even after that she still shows up to his place after her husband leaves to talk to him. At this moment he and Rick get into a big fight and he says really hurtful things to her. It is also not fair to her husband to not know she had an affair with the man he is trying to get there visas to america from, the both of them kept sneaking around to talk about the reason he wasn't going to give them the visas. Rick wouldn't tell Laszalo the reason he wasn't going to give him the visas was because he had been seeing his wife in Paris. One of the biggest moral implications i saw in “Casablanca” was when we were slowly told that adjust married woman had talked to someone about getting her and her husbands exit visas and she ended up asking rick for help because she knew he had the other two exit visas, the only other way she was going to get them was to have an affair on her husband with a German shoulder and her and her husband both new about it but it was the only way she saw. After finding out Rick had two exit visas she begged him for his help telling him about the affair she would have to have because

Before I tell you the reason, you need to hear Sal’s background. Sal was around 13 and living in Bybanks, Kentucky, when her beloved mother left and never returned. She later moved to Euclid, Ohio where she met Phoebe. Phoebe’s life had been relatively perfect. We later realize that Phoebe’s mother may seem perfect, but she was truly not perfect.
Abby was getting ready to leave the library and walk to a close coffee shop where she was meeting up with one of her friends around 6:00 p.m. Abby was always on time and called if something important came up. While Abby was putting things in her bag. She felt like she was being
During this Callie got very mad at Sam resulting in Sam getting sad and then having difficulty breathing. Callie does not talk about how no one was home at the time, although their dad was supposed to be. So Callie had to run down to the bar where her dad was because she didn't know what to do. Sam was taken away in an ambulance. Callies believes Sam’s condition to be her fault and her therapist tries to reassure her that is isn’t.
The reason for this is because they don’t really get along and it seems that Sandra is always on top of Sam and doesn’t let him have his own space. Sandra’s always calling him trying to find out where’s he’s at. Sam attempts to get away from his mother shows that the relationship is not a good one. Sam and Sandra don’t have that mother and son bond that they should have. They act more like friends who fight a lot.
The reason for this is Sam in the beginning says, ‘’.. but I was not even thirteen, and I wanted to forget how well I knew my mother”, this basically demonstrates their actual relationship in the beginning he wanted to forget his mom at such an early age. Sandra must of done crazy stuff for her child to say this which means their relationship wasn't as good as it should be between mother and son. Sam attempts to get away from his mother shows that the relationship is not good because kids are most likely to always want to live with their mo instead of their father. Later in the story, Sam discusses living with his mother in her apartment and he says, “I want to live a normal life”, this basically means that he wasn't living as a 13 year old should be living.
Janie and Micah, long time best friends. Although there’s one catch in their relationship. No one knows about their friendship. When Janie is forced to move away from her home neighboring Micah, it puts a strain on their friendship even more than ever. But when a fire sets Janie’s new house ablaze and Janie goes missing, to Micah at least, all that changes.
There are many different themes explored in Casablanca. There is one certainty: The main character in the movie, Rick, is looking for love and happiness. Rick and Ilsa's relationship really brings the movie's love theme to life, despite the film's overall strong love theme. The topic of war is also discussed. At the beginning of the film, we also see how war has affected the people of Casablanca.
They had a connection together and became good friends in school and out of school. They worked on the things he liked and he liked school very much. Sam had friendship problems because his friends aren’t that nice to him and they all do bad things to other people. They usually force him to do things for them and he gets into trouble like that. One day
The movie Casablanca has similarities to World War II. The movie begins by the viewer meeting Rick Blaine. He is the owner of a club that helps people from other countries receive their letters of transit. This club was a safe haven for many of the refugees. This club would allow for the refuges to obtain their letters of transit as well as earning some quick cash for traveling from gambling in the secret room.
In the end, in the brightness of the hanger, Rick and the French official are forced to abandon the shadows and their neutrality to pick a side. They let Isla and Lazlo leave, kill Major Strasser, and walk into the foggy darkness, neutrality abandoned, committed to freedom. The cinematography in Casablanca is critical in directing the audience’s attention, shaping the audiences feelings, and revealing the theme of the movie. Ultimately, the movie helped America abandon its neutrality, join the Allies and defeat
Michael Curtiz’s Casablanca (1942) is a film based in WWII around different nations involvement in the war. Casablanca is a stylistic piece of propaganda based in Casablanca, Morocco, a hotspot for Europeans escaping the war and Nazi government. Within the movie each character represents a nations stand in the war. Because of this each character is compromised in certain ways and has clear flaws. Ilsa Lund, the main female character in the film is renowned for being extremely manipulative and overly emotional because of the way women were seen in this era.
In the film, Officer Ryan molests Christine Thayer and later one in the film gambles on his life to save Christine during a tragic burning car accident. The irony in this scene provides a sense of awkwardness (fate changes/turning tables). What had really shocked me was when he had the perfect opportunity to leave Christine in the upside down burning car and die. However, instead he does the exact opposite of what we’d think, he risks his own life and saves her. Another character that took me by surprise was the Iranian man (Shaun Toub) who is an immigrant trying to fit in.
When their mum told them that they were going to move she simply snapped with her fingers and said no. She seemed to be used to getting her way and didn´t like to be told what to do. Usually when Mason spoke Samantha flipped him off and started to tell her opinion about what they were talking about instead, she always had to show that she was better than Mason Jr and made him stand in her shadow. In one scene she sings a song just to annoy mason and then she throws stuff at him, when their mum comes in Samantha pretend to cry and mason gets into trouble. But even though she seemed to be rude to everyone I don´t think she was, I think she actually was caring deep down.
1. In the movie Casablanca, Rick has a complementary relationship over most people. These people include Sacha, Carl, Sam, Ugarte, Abduhl and even Ilsa at some parts of the movie. Rick tells and makes decisions over most of the characters of the movie.
