The artist I will be discussing for my research project is the country music legend and superstar, Garth Brooks. He has been a big fan of mine my entire life, and I love his music. When he was just starting out, he did not have much success. He went to Oklahoma State University and sang in a bar called Willy’s Saloon down on the Strip in Stillwater. Us Oklahomans always feel warm hearted towards stars like him that realize throughout all of his fame and success; he still remembers and is proud of where he came from. To name a few, some of his major recordings include, “The Dance,” and “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” from his self-titled album Garth Brooks, “Friends In Low Places” and “The Thunder Rolls” from his second studio album No Fences, “Papa Loved Mama,” and a …show more content…

He was definitely considered country, but more contemporary country. Some of his music even crossed over to the pop charts and did remarkably well there as well as on the country charts. This is why Garth Brooks has become as successful as he has. He appeals to not only country music fans, but to also popular music fans as well. For one of his albums, he did release a rock-alternative album under the name of his alter ego Chris Gaines. It did not do as well as he had hoped and felt a bit defeated after that. He did not worry for long though, because his last album before retirement called Scarecrow, was unbelievably
