Lennie's complication have him to be accepted by other characters such as: Candy, Crooks and Curley's wife. He emits no threat, and seems to listen patiently because he has learned to pay close attention, due to remembering slightly of what he hears. Like a young child fascinated with stories, George has come to comfort Lennie with a tale of a golden future. A gold future of a farm and land with abundant livestock to himself. In English context, Lennie is a round yet static character. We know much about Lennie but his mental incapabilities and personality remains identical throughout the story. From this, there is no proper asylum (a safe place) for Lennie. Curley is vengeful, but even if he could be restrained, Lennie would face life in a degrading and cruel institution such as a mental hospital, prison or home for the criminally insane. Therefore he has the caring relationship with his partner George. A quote from the story states, "I got you. We got each other"pg104. In ¨Of Mice and Men¨, directed by Gary Sinese, Lenny is seen differently in the book than he is the movie, in more ways than one. One way that Lennie is seen differently in the movie is when we get to hear the quality of his voice. Now that the viewer gets to hear Lennie, we can now see how much his disability really affects him. Another moment where you can see Lennie 's differences, is when he gets in a fight with Curley and crushes his hand. In the book you can 't tell his facial expressions, how angry he really is or what he does in that scene.

From the day that Lennie’s Aunt Clara died and from the day George took Lennie in as a friend George was always there for him. If Lennie did not have George, Lennie would have no one to protect him and save him from all of the bad things that he has done. Despite all of the dangers and problems Lennie got George and himself into, George benefited and also learned from Lennie’s mistakes. George needs his ignorant sidekick as much as Lennie needs George.
What comes to mind when the word loyalty is mentioned? A dog, a pet, friends or family is what most people think of when the word is mentioned. However, many would not associate the word loyalty with loneliness. When John Steinbeck thought of loyalty he wrote of deep friendships and a dog and its owner’s love. Loyalty can be associated with loneliness because by the end of a friendship or family member, someone is always gone before the other, due to old age or a medical issue that has come up.
