A student needs to be able to seek out a person to deliver a message and not just announce to the world their need. This article brings social reinforcement, eye contact, and interaction into the world of the student. Autistic students do not always make this connect and the article helps teach society one way to introduce this skill. The characteristics of echolalia and building and maintaining friendships presented in Autism the Musical yielded both similarities and differences when compared to research studies. When comparing research regarding communicative behaviors in Autism the Musical several similarities were present. In the documentary, Lexi’s mother indicated that echolalia related to autism is associated with: introverted behavior, sameness in repetition, and limited initiation and communicative actions, which aligns with echolalic traits reported in research (Sterponi and Shankey, 2014). Also, echolalia is divided into two basic categories: immediate and delayed. Immediate echolalia occurs within seconds of a model utterance being produced, while delayed echolalia occurs hours, days, or weeks, after the model utterance is produced (Stiegler, 2015;

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) a complex effect in brain development has limited many from having the opportunity to live a healthy, normal and stress free life. Today, the pervasiveness of ASD in society has gained momentum. The article, The Epidemiology of Autism Spectrum Disorder, by Newschaffer et al claims that it is “second only to mental retardation as the most common serious developmental disabilities in the United States (2006, p. 21.2).” In an objective but yet deliberate tone, this scientific article states that those who were born with this neurodevelopmental disorder lack skills in social interactions, communication and possess a limited and reoccurring pattern in behavior. Autism is a brain development disorder characterized by continuous problems in social communication and interaction, besides with restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior, interests or activities. ASD stands for Autism Spectrum Disorder and can sometimes be referred to as Autistic Spectrum Disorder. As stated by the Medical News Today (2015), Autism Spectrum Disorder is a wide-spectrum disorder. This means that there will be no same people who will have the exact and same symptoms. Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication, as well as by unique strengths and differences. We now know that there is not only one autism type, but many types caused by a combination of genetic and environmental influences. The term spectrum reflects the wide variation in challenges and strengths possessed by each person with autism. The centers for Disease control and prevention estimates autism 's prevalence as 1 in 68 children in the United states. This includes 1 in 42 boys and 1 in 89 girls.
If I look at the world today and I look at our needs as a society I can see many things that are missing. Having been given millions of dollars, I would start a charity that helps adults with autism to live independently. Approximately 3.5 million Americans have an autism spectrum disorder. If you look and see that the number of children that are being born with autism is growing, you can only conclude that the number is rising among adults as children continue to age. If you consider autism to be a disorder that requires a lot of attention, as I do, then you may see that people with this developmental disorder need lifelong care and help.
Around the 1940s, the researcher Leo Kanner used the word “autism” to describe the behavior of the children he studied (Bhargava).

Other than that children with hearing impairments also have difficulty developing their vocabulary, and learning functional worlds like an, a, the, and are (ASLHA 2015). Due to these reasons children will comprehend and produce shorter and simpler sentences (ASLHA 2015). Children with hearing loss often struggle with quiet speech sounds
