Becoming an all-time great in any profession is a remarkable achievement that not many will obtain. However, attaining a place in history for a musician may be an even greater feat than most. Throughout my life there have been a number of artists that I enjoyed listening to, but most recently Drake, Future, and K. Michelle have been my favorite. While they are absolutely great they have a long way to catch up to Kanye West and Whitney Houston whom are two soloists that I think will achieve a place in humanities history. Kanye West has changed what society think hip-hop is supposed to sound and look like. Hip-hop is defined as a contemporary style of music that includes rap, a lifestyle marked by baggy clothes, idiomatic speech, and break-dancing.
My first theme is how Tupac made it big and became a successful artist. How he did that was in 1988 just two years after he moved to Baltimore, Maryland. Tupac and his family moved to Marin City, California just a short drive north of San Francisco. When he attended Tamalpais High School Shakur was heavily involved in the school's drama department. Later the next year in 1989 Shakur began going to Poetry classes taught by Leila Steinberg.
In a world full of competition, it takes more than someone with a goal and a dream, but rather someone who is dedicated and is willing to make sacrifices to make themselves among the most elite businessmen. With this being said I believe rapper, producer, actor, and entrepreneur Sean Combs, also known as P.Diddy is someone who fit this profile perfect. Sean Combs has accomplished numerous things. His successful clothing line Sean John to his own brand of liquor Ciroc, are just two of many of Combs accomplishments. Sean Combs is a well-known and respected business mogul who has made his mark in many different industries of business such as the music industry, fashion industry, fragrance industry or the alcohol industry.
Others may say that Drake's work isn't influential, or that he isn't the most historical artist of our time. Drake is making history as the first artist with tracks debuting at No.1, No.2, and No.3 on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts and having two albums spend 400 weeks on the Billboard 200. (NME) This has been the first time in history that this has been done with any artist. This is why Drake is making history as an influential artist, despite what others may say.

The birth of hip hop took place in the Bronx, New York , during a time of poverty , Initially when Hip Hop first came about no one would have imagined how vastly and quickly it grew nor would they have predicted the influence on society it has today. This particular enriched and animated, genre of music went from the local backwoods of the projects to a multi millionaire industry. If you ask most people today their definition of Hip Hop , generally they would say a cool rhyming scheme with a hook and a catchy tune, which is not too far off. But it is much deeper than that .Hip hop is a form of expression like a factory , if you may .
It is proven through belief that hip-hop was indirectly created from and influenced by the scatting and improvisation of jazz. Some even refer to hip-hop as the “jazz of the younger generation” (difference between hip-hop and jazz, 2011). Both jazz and hip-hop used their lyrics to express life. They also share many Afrocentric characteristics. They have polyphony, rhythm, repetition, and call and response in common.
