In this essay I will be explaining why George was justified in shooting Lennie. You will read 3 reasons why I believe he is justified such as: Lennie wouldn’t have to face jail time, it would put Lennie out of his misery, and premeditation. To start off my essay I will begin with the reason of him not having to face jail time. Lennie wasn’t the brightest crayon in the box if you know what I mean so he didn’t really understand a lot. Also, Lennie was the nicest ,and sweetest person you would ever meet he didn’t ever want or mean to hurt anyone. Although many people may say that he needs to pay for what he has done, these people did not take into account that Lennie is a slower than a grown male should be. Another topic that will be discussed
A reason why george should be justified is because he says if “i was alone i could live so easy” which you never say to a guy like lennie. George should be punished for killing lennie because if george never killed lennie they could of had their dream come true. and he should also be punished because he was rude to lennie. “Funny said
The vocabulary used by Lennie is not the best. The characteristics of Lennie shows that he is not the brightest person. He was drinking lake water that was not clean. He ened up putting his hat in all and took a big gulp from the water. There is are mistakes made by Lennie throughout the book.
Lennie would have suffered and probably been beaten by the mob if it weren’t for
This essay is about The book Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck. The story is about two men, George and Lennie, who get a new job at a ranch, and how they go about their lives there, taking place in the early 1900s. I think that the author was successful in making Lennie a sympathetic Character. One of my reasons is that he likes things that are soft, and he tries to pick them up whenever he finds them. For example, In the first chapter, Lennie found a dead mouse on the side of the road, and put it in his pocket.
Sympathy is feeling pity or sorry for someone based on their mental abilities or how people acts and how people is treated that’s what sympathy is, and this is what happened in the OMAM book. In the novel Lennie is the most sympathetic character in Of Mice and Man because he has mental problems and he forget things easily because of his disability and always George gives instructions to Lennie, because always he talks they get in trouble then Lennie is treated badly by him, Lennie cannot follow directions and he dies, he is the most sympathetic character because he is treated badly because he does so many things that are wrong for him but he can’t understand because of his disability and he is slow this is why he is the most sympathetic
How do you know when it’s the right time to end the misery of someone close to you? It’s a difficult decision to make regardless of the reason for that person’s suffering. This challenging decision was by George from John Steinbeck’s book, Of Mice and Men. After multiple devastating and tragic events, Lennie Small, George’s best friend who has an intellectual disability, caused countless events to happen on a ranch in Salinas, California. Curley, who was a short man who worked on the ranch, had his hand crushed by Lennie in an act of self defense.
Of Mice and Men has always had a bad vibe towards it, that is because the problems that are presented in the book are still relevant modern America.. John Steinbeck's masterpiece shows a world where the simplest dream can be extremely hard to achieve. Steinbeck shows that the 1930s is a place in time that cannot even be imagined in this modern time. The novella shows how the character deals with the feeling of uncertainty, loneliness , and how each character has their way of dealing with it. Every character has their only and well defined personality, some will have good morals and others will have bad morals. Characters will be victims or villains and some may even be both, one must understand the difference.
Another reason Lennie should not have been killed for what he did was because Lennie doesn't know his own strength. George should not have killed Lennie because he should of taught him that he is stronger, when the first accident happened in Weed. George should have taught Lennie how to control himself when he was little.
Lennie had low brains and high strength, allowing him to get far with George helping him. But, Lennie never knowing when he did something wrong only put him on a clock before he would end up dying for something he didn’t understand. “They run us outta weed,”(Steinbeck 7) this quote shows that already at the beginning of the book Lennie has
George was a good worker, but Lennie was an amazing worker with a tenacious work ethic and stamina. Lennie had incredible strength, but sometimes he did not understand just how massive he was. Many times throughout the book Lennie is caught hurting people or killing animals on accident. The biggest reason Lennie should not have been killed was because he was a major asset in the working force. That means he could have helped continue to bring in money towards the farm they dreamed about operating someday.
Some people might think in the opposite side that George should not killed Lennie because Lennie did not mean to anything. He has done it without knowing how strong of himself. Lennie made many troubles this might be because of his disability, but this is the reason that he deserves to live. He has done many thing that make George get into trouble and It is better if Lennie has to die because of George shoot him not the other. "All the time he coulda had such a good time if it was not for you” (Steinbeck).
Mental illness is one of many things that can isolate and damage a person. It can cause them to be ridiculed, it can change the lives of those who surround that person, and it can even lead someone to act against their will. In Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, Lennie Small is a character who, because of his mental disability, portrays many of the qualities mentioned above. Lennie’s life long companion, George, is Lennie’s protector who keeps Lennie from being isolated and lonely. However, there were certain things that Lennie’s mental illness caused that George could not protect him from.
George killing Lennie is justified. Lennie was either gonna get killed by the other men or George. The other men were only doing it because they hated Lennie, George would have done it for the sake of Lennie’s safety and mental state. George would have felt guilty if he did not handle it himself. One reason George was justified in killing Lennie was that George had realized Lennie would never get better and their dream would never come true.
In Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck many hard decisions were made. In this novel two Characters George and Lennie get kicked out of their last city and travel to soledad to start their new life. Lennie causes lots of commotion at the ranch which turns people against George and Lennie. At the end of the novel George kills Lennie which raises the question if he fairly weighed all of the options and if his choice was justified or condemned. One reason why this was a justified decision is that George only wanted the best for his best friend.
Secondly, Would you ever have the guts to shoot your friend? George may have done it with dignity and for the best but i still don’t think that was okay. George should have looked out for Lennie better than just leaving him alone, or at least let lennie go. If i had that problem, i would have talked to my friend and helped them or go away with them. Shooting your “friend” isn’t being a friend.
