Aidan’s Fantasy Growing up i've always liked football. The Dallas Cowboys to be exact. My fantasy would to play on the Cowboy’s team, and now that fantasy is coming true. Ring, Ring, Ring. My alarm goes off as I wake up. I sit there and ponder a little bit thinking of what the day holds for me today. First day of practice I think to myself. I walk on the field not knowing what to expect. Will they make fun of me or laugh at me. But it was silent except the smashing of the players getting hit. Coach puts me in at running back to see what i've got. As the ball is snapped the ball is put in my arms. And i'm running down the line as I see a linebacker coming straight at me. In split time I react and dodge the defender. Im now at full speed …show more content…
I start to ask coach if he could put me in, but he keeps saying that I don't have enough experience. I'm about to walk out when he says that the star running back got hurt and I need you to sud for him tomorrow. The next day came I got dressed and I was ready to play. Kickoff begins as i’m sitting on the bench watching and cheering them on. Tackled at the 26 yard line. First play on and I get the ball. Ball is snapped and it's a pitch to me. I'm running at half speed trying to concentrate on where to go. All I hear is the crowd roaring. And all the sudden i’m hit out of bounds for a gain of 48 yards. Half time hits as the score is Dallas 28 and Patriots 34. Coach starts talking about the game and how we need to make a comeback, but all I can think about is the expression on the defender's face. The anger and tense on his face was unbelievable. The next Quarter come and goes and there's 30 seconds on the clock. And the score is Dallas 42 And Patriots 45. As were in the huddle, last play says the QB let’s make it count. The ball is snapped and the ball is now in my arms. It was a clear gap to the endzone and I take it. Running full speed and then I hear something. I turn my head and see that crazy look one more time. I stop and he runs right past me and in the
After that year I told myself that would never happen again, so I started focusing on becoming a better athlete and trying to understand the sport. By eighth grade I was starting on defence and playing backup running back, which I did not mind at all. Playing the positions I liked, but then a team mate got
The first half ends with no team scoring. Then the 3rd quarter begins and the Cardinals receive the ball, their running back Andre Ellington does a marvelous job on breaking tackles, he runs without ever looking back, as he runs all the way Patriot fans begin to nod in disappointment but some still have faith in their team. The Patriots receive the ball and run it to the 30 yard line. The next play is going to go to Danny, as he receives the ball he runs and gets a gain of another 30 yards. There
Ben, I and about 4 other adults took the Seahawks’s side of the room while the Patriot fans took the other. After all the food was cooked, the game finally started. It started off great for Seattle as we got the early interception. But our excitement did not last long as the Patriots made a comeback to tie the game. However, Seattle managed to score just before halftime, leaving the intense excitement in the air.
The ball goes up and over my head to land perfectly in the route of the Rocky Mount attacker. I turned and put everything I had into cutting off the strikers angle at the goal. We sprint down the length of the sidelines but he remains two steps ahead of me. He has a one on one with the goalie and he rocket it dead center at out keeper, who handles it easily enough. I have been catching strikers since freshman year but this time I wasn 't able to catch up, and it wasn 't due to the opposing player being faster than me.
Everyone is going through the streets as fast as they can to get good seats and get tickets before they sell out. All of our fans are here and gathered here for kickoff. As I was walking into the press box I see the men go onto the field! I quickly rush out of the press box to find out what they were doing. I see them go into the tunnel where the players will soon be coming out of.
I sprinted for the ball that was bouncing towards the middle of the field. I jumped with the ball to make a header. Crack! I was on the ground and I remember feeling a sharp pain on my forehead. I felt like someone threw a rock at my face.
I sprung forward and launched out of my stance. The center snapped the ball then shot at me with his hands aimed for my pads to attempt to block me. I took a sharp left step, as I propelled my left hand onto his back and cycled my right arm over to push him away. As I got past him I locked onto the quarterback. Rushing towards him as fast as I could he scrambled to catch up to him and disrupt the play.
Three seconds left on the clock, a single play on the one-yard line determines the outcome of not just the game, but also the SEC victor, and bragging rights. The game goes into commercial break at that moment only adding on to the anxiety and tension; I could feel my heart beating even faster and could even see it beat through my lucky Florida shirt signed by Tim Tebow. The game comes back on, LSU lines up and the roar of the fans shakes the camera. Florida lines up looking composed on the outside, but driving by fear on the inside. The full back goes in motion, it’s a inside pitch to their running back, he runs, jumps and gets stopped at the one.
The Panthers now lead 21-0 with 14:18 left in the second quarter. The Seahawks receives the ball at the 20 yard line and throws an interception their first play. Even though the Panthers got the ball fairly close to the endzone they were not able to score a touchdown, but instead were only able to kick a field goal to get a 24-0 lead over the Seahawks. When the Panthers get the ball back they drive down the field to the 19 yard line where they throw a touchdown pass to Greg Olsen with 6:26 left in the quarter. The score is now 31-0 with the Panthers still in the lead, the score does not change throughout the rest of the second
We all celebrate our exciting moment of victory, but months later the tryouts for the summer travel team would happen. The fun-filled first day was also nerve-wracking, but we all have each other like a family. Then, the next day of tryouts with starting sprints and stretching. Next, the contact portion - tackling with passing - came upon us faster than we thought. The first times through the drill went well, but it’s finally my turn after waiting in line.
The next was a rush to our running back, Devonta Freeman who rushed it for 7 yards. Again we rushed but Marcus Mariota was sacked before we could hand the ball of, and the ball was fumbles, and recovered by the Patriots. Unlike the last offensive drive the Patriot Scored and the PAT attempt was good. I had a nervous feeling in my stomach, because I knew that if we could not full of a win, then we would disappoint many fans. I also knew that if the Patriots continued to play like this, then this game would be "lights out.
Football has been my favorite sport since I could run. Running free in the grass with friends and family made me appreciate the the quality of life I was blessed to have. Senior year of high school I went from league champions to below .500 records. Lake Winaukee was where the team would prep and practice for the upcoming season. As a senior, I felt I was obliged to help my team win football games and the place we could create chemistry was Lake Winaukee.
I did not want to face my team due to pure embarrassment . I was a tidal pool of emotions shifting back and forth between fear, anger, disappointment, and shame. Worst of all was the dialogue in my own head. You let your entire team down. You 'll never be an outstanding runner.
Ever since I was a toddler, I loved sports. Baseball, basketball, it did not matter; I just liked to run. When I was around 4 or 5, I was in the living room watching the Steelers play the Cardinals and saw Santonio Holmes grab a game winning touchdown to win the Superbowl. I was so excited that I jumped up in the air and I told my dad, “Daddy when I grow up I want to play football and I want to score a lot of touchdowns just like 10 does.”
Adrenaline courses through your body as your trusted QB, John Smith, passes the ball over to you and you break free of the tight defense they have fortified around you and John. Time is ticking down, and this touchdown is the thin line between victory and defeat. You accelerate, feeling the wind breeze against your cheeks as the distance between the end zone and you grow shorter and shorter. 15 yards …. 10 yards ….
