Gun control has been a big factor in today’s society, now days it is often to see people getting their lives taken from them due to guns. Having researched one side of the issue, that gun violence had increased over the last year. Having researched the other side of the issue, more gun owners are feeling their rights are being taken little by little. There is no question this is a complicated issue that will require a complicated answer. Due to the black market on guns, anyone can acquire one without a background check. Despite current laws towards purchasing guns, there will always be someone going around the law to purchase a gun. However, if you go to a local gun store you will need a full background check to purchase a gun. The history …show more content…
‘In the late 1980s, gun control groups realized that they had failed in their original goal—getting handguns banned—and began campaigning against semi-automatic firearms they called "assault weapons," most of which are rifles’(“A ban on assault weapons would not reduce crime”). From 1994 to 2004, the Federal Assault Weapons (F.D.A) banned semi automatic weapons from having more than 10 rounds. The easiest way to define gun control is by saying it a government regulation sale of any type of handgun, or assault rifle. It’s just a certain style the government sales firearms, if you have a criminal background or criminal history you are not allowed to purchase a firearm due to gun control. I personally think gun control doesn’t cause any harm to today’s society, considering the fact that i’m constantly around guns and I have no violent urge to put anyone in danger. As a hunter and always hunting animals, I only use firearms for putting food on the table. So therefor I don’t believe that firearms should be limited to their capabilities. A gun is made to be used at its full capability. Weapons are used also for protection over your family,(“A ban on assault weapons would not reduce crime”) also said, “ California 's murder rate increased every year for five years, twenty-six percent total. That is a perfect example of why some people feel the need to keep a gun or firearm in their homes, they are aware of the murder rate due to the media. People do not want to take a chance on someone hurting them so they feel the need to have one, witch is understandable because the murder rate has raised in the last 5 years there. You don’t want your firearm to not be able to be used to its maximum strength at a time if someone was to try to harm you, you would want it to be able to be used at its maximum strength to be able to protect you from harm. I understand that if everybody had a firearm it would raise the murder rate tremendously, but one must admit should be a little harder to get a gun, just cause you don’t have a criminal background does not mean you are not capable of doing the same actions a criminal. The gun control law should be made to where if you wanted to purchase a firearm, that you
Gun control/violence is a disputed subject in today’s society, because it affects most citizens in our country. There are two major views on gun control. They are the liberal and conservative view. The liberal side falls on the left side of the political spectrum while the conservative side falls on the right side. Gun Control laws try to reduce criminals and criminal use of gun.
The False Promise of Gun Control The fight over gun regulation in the United States dates back to the country's formation, when the writers of the Constitution drafted the Second Amendment, which allows private persons to "keep and bear weapons." After President John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963, gun control became a much greater issue. Gun control is dictating who can buy, sell, and use certain classes of firearms. There are reasons that these laws are in place in order to protect citizens from people that use firearms unlawfully and that can cause us harm if they intend to use them for any crime including but not limited to school shootings, robbing, to scaring people, and many more acts of crime.
Guns control is not strict enough these days. The U.S government does not put down laws strict enough to deal with people purchasing guns without having a license. Some people who are aggressive and have health issues should not be allowed to have guns because they might go out and shoot people in anger. " No legitimate study in the U.S has ever shown that gun control has any positive Impact on crime"?
Gun control is a major problem/controversy in America right now. People are getting killed and the way they are getting killed is by gun. They blame the gun for the murder, but I mean is it really the guns fault? That’s like saying a guy with no arms or legs was walking on the sidewalk eating something with his arms. Recently, gun control has been involved in places such Missouri, New York, Los Angeles etc.
Gun control has been a controversial issue for many years. Many citizens believe that if gun control is strictly enforced it would reduce the threat of crime. People have the right to bear arms for protection, or even just the pleasure of hunting and recreational activity. With the recent events involving firearms and mass shootings, people are skeptical whether to increase or decrease gun laws. Americans have a constitutional right to own handguns and stricter laws and licensing will not effectively save lives.
“A study published in the American Journal of Public Health found that "legal purchase of a handgun appears to be associated with a long-lasting increased risk of violent death"(-https://gun-control.procon.org/). There is such a thing as an unlicensed dealer selling handguns without a background check and proper documentation and it is legal. Those gun buyers are mainly causing chaos with mass shootings and yet others think the Second Amendment defends the right to own a weapon for “self-defense”. It is time for tougher gun control laws; the safety of the citizens depends on a safe environment free of guns from those using them for villainous purposes such as mass shootings or homicides.
It’s a true fact that people kill people, not guns. However, people use guns to kill people. So then, it would be understandable to think that it is necessary to control who can get guns. But yet, a large number of guns are sold to people whose backgrounds aren’t checked. This means America isn’t completely controlling who all can get guns — nobody is.
When it comes to gun control, law enforcement officials are in the drivers seat. Their argument may come across as a surprise to most but according to a poll of 15,000 police men and women, 91% of respondents argued that a federal ban on assault rifles would have no effect on violent crime and homicide rates (Avery). The same 91% of these respondents supported the ownership of firearms by people that are mentally capable of handling such weapons safely (Avery). Interestingly enough, 86% of law officials feel as though the rate of casualties could have been significantly less in cases such as Sandy Hook if a legally armed person were present

Gun control is a topic that has been debated over the last few years. It is a subject that many people stand for and against the change in policy. Basically gun control would change the way firearms are regulated, by changing laws or polices that control how they are made, sold, owned, and used by civilians. However by trying to take away firearms from civilians would be infringing upon their rights as United States citizens. There are many ethical reasons why gun control should not be implemented towards law-abiding citizens such as it is hypocritical, neglects the reality of control, and is discriminating against gun owners.
Options may be, black markets and stealing, sometimes from family members. Criminals or mentally ill people have and will continue to find ways around gun restrictions and
Moreover, if the ownership of guns is limited, it will help prevent unnecessary deaths and violence caused by gun owners, especially students. Gun ownership should be totally controlled and regulated by the government because they will help in limiting the number of people who own guns. When gun
Gun control also limits our constitutionally derived right to own firearms. If gun control is enforced, law-abiding citizens will be forced to give up their guns and their right to own guns, while many criminals who own guns may illegally keep theirs. As the saying goes “If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.” Guns are an important aspect of our society in many ways. They allow for protection, recreation, and hunting.
Gun Control in America Gun control in America is a highly debated subject. James Wilson speaks against gun control in his article “Gun Control Isn’t the Answer”. Gun laws need to be more restricted. Gun control reform is needed to safeguard children and prevent access to those with mental illness and a criminal background. Wilson talks about the shooting at Virginia Tech using it as a platform to talk about people not weapons being responsible for the tragedy.
Guns are just a tool, like knives and hammers and it completely depends on the people on how they use it. People who support guns and arms say that the Second Amendment secures individual’s right to carry guns with them and that gun rights is needed for self-protection, and was intended for military to have peace and defend the country if needed (Spitzer, 70). Most of the Americans use guns as a source to protect themselves and they believe that gun ownership prevents crime. A study conducted on November 26, 2013 showed that bans on weapons did not significantly affect murder rates at the state level (Lane, 5). Moreover, even if the rules and regulations are executed on gun control, not all criminals obey the law.
