Should Juveniles be tried as adults just because they commit a crime? It depends what type of crime it is and what age is the juvenile. If juveniles are sentenced as adults they have to check on how bad the crime was and also what age they 're Ages 5-10 shouldnt be tried as adults because they dont know what they are doing. In another hand, kids ages 11 and up should already know whats good and bad, so that mean that they should be tried as adults, but it depends on how bad was the crime that they did. In the article " Teen charge as adullt in stabbing Rampage at Penn. High School" by Tracy Bloom, she states that a 16 years old who should be charged as an adult. Alex Hribal knew exactly what he was gonna do to those people at his school. Alex stabbed 21 people including an officer. He should be sentenced as an adult because he is 16 years old and he knew what he was gonna do to those people and how he was gonna do it too. He should of thought twice before doing the crime because what he did doesnt have an explanition, he just stabbed …show more content…
In the article " Boy, 13, charged 'wrestling ' death of girl,5" by Kennedy ryan, he states that the 13 year old boy killed his half-sister. The boy should know whats good and bad but in this case it wasnt his fauly. Because he thought he was just playing with the 5 year old girl. The victimed moms just left the boy to babysit his half-sister but instead she should of took them with her to the store, if thats where she was going. The boy didnt want to kill the girl but to him it was a wrestling game but he didnt know that by playing like that he was gonna killed the 5 year old girl(Half-sister). The 8 year old boy shouldnt be tried as an adult because no parent so ever should let a minor babysit when they already no the conquences with the law. In this case its the moms fault because she knew better what would happen and the boy should be tried as a
Imagine your friend had lead you into the woods and stabbed you 19 times throughout your body. Anissa and her friend Morgan alledgy stabbed another 12 year old 19 times after leading her into the woods in order to please a fictional character. Morgan and Anissa should be tried as adults with lower sentences and therapy because of the severity of the crime, her age, and her mental health. The two friends should be tried as adults with lower sentence because of how serious the crime was.
They should be tried by the adult courts, which were designed to deal with those crimes. Placing juveniles, along with everybody else, no matter the age, in adult circumstances is necessary. As a closing, criminals are criminals, no matter a juvenile. Crimes are crimes and should be punished as
Currently, in America, there is a debate about whether or not juveniles should be tried as adults. When it comes to trying teens in court as adults. Some say stop trying them as adults and try them as juveniles, others say they must be tried as adults when they commit adult crimes. I believe that teens should be held accountable for their actions and tried as adults. If minors who commit violent crimes were tried as adults and punished the same way as adults are, the number of violent crimes committed by the youths of our generation would decline dramatically.
Juveniles should be trialed as adults because they cannot commit more crime when they are in jail, hey cannot commit worse crimes, and itm is safer for the community. I think that juveniles who are under 18 should get trialed as adults. In 2012 the supreme court ruled that Juveniles under the age of 18 can not receive a life sentence or be put to death without parole (lauck). But what if some one under 18 committed a crime that a 23 year old committed why should one get life or be put to death while the other one gets a smack on the wrist and gets away scot free, the under aged person can be just as bad as someone who is over 18.
All teens who have committed a crime should not receive a death penalty or a adult sentencing. Teenagers do not have the capability powers as an adult because they are much more superior than a simple
In the United States, the juvenile justice system was founded with the purpose of focusing on rehabilitation rather than punishment when a juvenile has committed a crime [1]. Although the juvenile justice system continues to serve this purpose, there has been an ongoing conflict between protecting society from harm through equal punishment regardless of the perpetrator’s age, and rehabilitation goals regarding the juvenile in question [2]. Due to this ongoing conflict, the question of whether juveniles should be tried as adults for violent crimes is controversial, for one side claims that not doing so is unethical because it is unjust, whereas the opposing side claims that doing so is unethical because it violates the principle of least harm.
Juveniles when convicted in a court of a law for heinous crimes they should be held accountable as adults, therefore they should be tried as an adult. When kids are convicted for a crime they should be considered as an adult because in their mind they are cautious of what they are doing or perhaps while they were growing up they experience a lot of violence and it may affected their mind for the future. Kids that are ages 11 and up should be considered as an adult because kids such as teenagers should be responsible for their actions. Kids that are ages 11 and older should be considered as an adult. Even though kids that are ages 11 or higher aren’t fully mature enough they still know what’s right
Juveniles may not be adults however; they should be punished the same as an adult if they committed a serious crime. Say a juvenile had murdered someone, they should be charged as an adult and not be given certain amount of years and then probation. These juveniles who commit serious crimes knew what they were doing and should deal with the consequence no matter the age. I am not saying that a a juvenile under the age of 18 should be put in adult prison, however they should be in a juvenile detention until he/ she is old enough to be transferred in to a prison.
I highly agree with Marjie, minors should be charged as adults if needed to, if the crime was pretty drastic then they should be punished as adults. Marjie Lundstrom states, ”These days for under-eighteen crowd, the group we routinely write off as “only kids.” It's why they can't smoke,or drink,or go to R movies without our OK.It’s why we fret over their internet access and fuss about driving privileges”, this statement was so accurate, she makes a point on how us teens have restrictions on certain things,so if we break one of these things it doesn't make a difference either way we should get a serious
How do that sound? A kid being charged as an adult for a crime, he was more and likely manipulated to do. Kids don’t just act out in such behaviors for no reason. Something’s either wrong, lack self control due to functions of the brain or influenced by our adults and were trying to send them away, instead of getting them help; he is just sentenced to life.
Although McCrea argues that juveniles should not be tried as adults, Estudillo undeniably proves that juveniles should be tried as adults. Minors being tried as an adult exposes juveniles to
We have seen today in society of how crime rates have been rampant and how statistics show that most of the crimes were being made by minors. I believe that when most of them look at the bottom of these young offenders come disproportionately from impoverished single-parent homes that are located in the neighbourhoods desinvertido and have high rates of learning disabilities, mental health, and substance abuse and problems with the help of the system of juvenile justice that can make a great return on a successful transition to adulthood. Their ages ranged from 20 and under, most are under fifteen years of age. Juveniles tried as adults must assume the same consequences as any other criminal and are subject to state prisons with inmates much higher and that have probably committed crimes much more tortuous then you could ever have. These minors between the ages of nine to twenty according to the offence committed or of the number of times that are prosecuted and believe that it is immutable.
I do not think that juveniles should be tried as adults. I believe that juveniles should have another chance after they serve their time. There are certain jurisdictions that will try juveniles as adults. The offense committed by the juvenile determines the punishment. If a juvenile committee an adult crime, then he or she can be tried as an adult.
Juvenile Justice Essay In the United States, there have been many cases where a juvenile would be found guilty and be tried as an adult. There are other cases where those juveniles are tried as adult forever. I am against charging juveniles as adults when they commit violent crimes, the juveniles lose many educational opportunities and the adult system is far too dangerous for the young juveniles. Juveniles are also young kids but only the fact that they do not get the same amount of education or experience that other teens gain.
In our society, crimes are being committed not only by adults but by juveniles as well. By law as soon as a person turns 18 they are considered to be an adult. So what if an adult and a juvenile were to commit the same crime yet were sentenced differently simply based on the fact that one is a child and one is an adult? Juveniles are committing violent crimes just as adults and should be given the equal treatment and sentencing as adults receive. Juveniles aren’t completely ignorant as everyone seems to think.
