Chemistry is the branch of science that deals with the composition, structure and changes in matter. You are a product of chemistry, apparently, everything is! From the tiniest grain of sand to the heavenly bodies in the universe, the stars, the planets, they are products of chemistry, can you even envision a world without chemistry? Of course, you can’t, your mind is a product of chemistry too! It is also used in daily human activities, such as cooking. But even though I have stated some its uses, it still leaves a question, what is the importance of chemistry? To answer that question, we need to widen our perspectives. Chemistry has a notoriety for being a convoluted and exhausting subject/science, however, the notoriety is undeserved. Beautiful …show more content…
Everyone can and should understand the basics of chemistry. It is essential to understand chemistry if one is studying other sciences – such as physics, which I’ve said a while ago, - because all of the things in this universe, may it be outside the cosmic web, involve matter and the interactions between them. It offers a lot of career jobs, those who want to become doctors, nurses, physicists and (obviously) chemists, should study chemistry. A career that involves chemistry is undoubtedly high paying, statistics will tell you. I find stoichiometry as a moderate-hard subject matter for me, the reason that I chose it is because I want to improve in chemistry. For me, this is another starting point, it requires you to memorize the atomic masses and such, it’s a practice to sharpen one’s memory. To lessen my incapability, I have to kick it up a notch, double the effort in everything. First thing to maximize is my studying hours. I have realized that when you are bad at something, it only takes willingness and passion for you to excel in it. Second thing is my attitude towards the subject, another thing that I realized, you can never hate anything, really. For me, hate is an imagination, it’s the absence of love, so if I dislike chemistry, might as well change my thoughts about it and look at the bigger picture, it can open up many opportunities for me in the future. I will learn to love what I don’t want to
The article written by Brian Rohrig titled, NASCAR: Chemistry on the Fast Track, released in the February 2007 issue of ChemMatters, tackles the interesting challenge of relating racing to chemistry. Throughout the article, Brian uses the technology and equipment utilized in the sport to draw connections between the general field of chemistry and NASCAR, a famous North American racing series, whilst explaining the general rules and regulations unique to the NASCAR series. Many individuals today seem to forget that science is not only found in a textbook, research paper, or lab. Science is present in our world everywhere, whether it is racing, gaming, or simply breathing. Chemistry can also be found in every single interaction in the universe,
Every student is unique and learns better from different techniques. Some students are visual learners and others are verbal learners. In most cases students prefer certain subject fields over others. For instance, I love learning about math and science but I don’t really care for social studies.
Abigail Colvin Mr. Sanders Chemistry II 12 May 2016 The Chemy Called Al Introduction Chemistry is the study of matter and its properties. Even though the term chemistry has not always existed, chemistry has always been a part of life and is essential to life. By understanding the basics of chemistry, many discoveries and inventions have been made that improve life.
We learned the material in class and was assigned homework everyday. However, when the test came along, the results I obtained were devastating. Test after test, I kept getting C’s, D’s and even E’s. Every time I get a bad test score back, I would shrug it off. “The next test will be better,” I kept telling myself.
While taking AP Physics Mechanics, I had a teacher who taught strategically, leaving out critical information that would be on an assessment so he could teach it after people fail. After bringing most of the class down to a 50 percent average, I began to panic. I couldn’t believe that I was so behind; therefore, I decided to meet with my teacher, not asking for pity but for tips on how to prepare for these seemingly impossible tests. He confessed he is full of tricks, so I developed a coping method. I perceived the class as a game where I jump over every hurdle to win.
Think about the times you have had to take an exam (Perhaps a midterm) and your mind suddenly goes blank. You cannot remember anything about the subject, other than a hazy, just out of reach, frustratingly untouchable murmur of an
The study of Green Chemistry emphasizes the reduction of hazards to human health and the larger environment, as well as
Of course, I can remember a few things from Chemistry, but nothing like I should be able to retain. I know that when I am just memorizing the material and not learning it or just getting through the class to get an A is not a good habit or ideal in any way, but I still do it. I now regret not focusing on learning the material, and I have been really trying in all of my classes following the Chemistry class to learn and retain the information given. I also think about how much money my parents and I have just thrown away, because I cannot remember the information that was taught.
The first half of this semester was swift and I can’t believe how fast it passed by. College is a whole new world for me that I had never imagined with a lot of new experiences that I hope will shift me into a better and smarter person. There are more things I can do in college that I would have never dared to do in high school and I am happy for these new freedoms. I am able to eat in class, leave class without asking and they don’t care if I pay attention or not. My high school teachers would always tell me to wait for the bell, sometimes would not let me leave and if I did not pay attention they would yell.
It is important to know be literate with knowing how the scientific method works, knowing how to do the separate steps within the method, and then understanding it in order to do it by yourself. This leads into the need for the ability to follow lab protocols as these include steps on how to do a certain experiments. Often there are many sections in a lab protocol, so it is crucial to understand what each section is for and what you are supposed to do with each section of information. In many science content areas it is important to have a literacy in math especially with using formulas and conversions. These math concepts are important to doing science and understanding science.
Nonetheless, students should identify which few methods enhance their memory and understanding best when learning, as different students have different learning needs. Likewise, students, who are usually required to recall learning materials, are recommended to view future new materials with strong enthusiasm and determination (Shuilleabhain, 2014), as it is an approach to motivate students. However, students should take care not to practice learning techniques they are not familiar with, especially when nearing the exams; as students who, Lan (cited in Bednall and Kehoe, 2011, pp. 205-226) believes, “engage in unfamiliar strategies may induce a high working memory load, thereby diminishing the effectiveness of their study efforts.” Also, both teachers and parents alike should take the practical and relevant steps in ensuring that their students/children are well schooled in the manner of implementing effective learning techniques in their academic life.
I have understood the material more as I studied out of the text book. This has also helped me take effective notes. With this most recent score on my exam I had a push to keep going and
Science provides a wealth of knowledge that can be tapped to enhance the provision of healthcare in the world. Science and healthcare are closely interconnected and there is need to come up with measures that enhance the positive use of science in the healthcare setting. Healthcare personnel are trained using scientific methods, and day to day operations at healthcare facilities are based on science. Treatment plans such as different medicines, surgery and laboratory procedures are all based on scientific methods. However, if not used properly, science can also create problems to healthcare provision.
Therefore, after giving an exam our mind forgets what we had learned because the task has been completed. We can use Zigernik effect for our benefit by doing some unrelated activities during study like watching t.v, taking a walk or a nap and by getting distracted in the following way we can learn the material better this also enhances our creative abilities. So use the above described seven techniques to memorize efficiently and to remember what you learn for a delayed period. With using these techniques for a couple of weeks try to learn something and see what results you get, you might be surprised how easy it is to study smarter not
I finally overcame that by studying more. The test were becoming a bit easier for me. Still math is the hardest class till this day for me but it's easier
