In this biography I tell you about his life and how he came to be the famous William Shakespeare. William Shakespeare was baptised on April 26, 1564, in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. Since there is no birth record it is assumed he was born on or near April 23, 1564 due to his baptism date. He was born the third child of John Shakespeare, a leather merchant, and Mary Arden, a local landed heiress. He had two older sisters, Joan and Judith, and three younger brothers, Gilbert, Richard, and Edmund. Before William was born, his dad had became a very successful merchant and held official positions as alderman and bailiff, which is a lot like being a mayor. The school, King’s New School, taught a lot of Greek mythology, Roman comedy, ancient history, rhetoric, grammar, Latin, and maybe Greek. Throughout his childhood his father dealt with serious debt, and because of this William was unable to go to a college. (Shakespeare in America.com) On November 28, 1582 he married at age 18 to 26 year-old Anne Hathaway, a daughter of a local farmer. She was already 3 months pregnant at their wedding and gave birth to their daughter Susanna 6 months later. Two years later she gave birth to twins Judith, a girl, and Hamnet, a boy. Hamnet died at age 11 due to the bubonic plague.
