The AAAI is ³devoted to the promotion and advancement of artificial intelligence² in computers. This site has a quick access index, with information on AAAI symposia, workshops, publications, membership, and technical reports.
Association for Computational Linguistics
http://www.aclweb.org/
"The Association for Computational Linguistics is THE international scientific and professional society for people working on problems involving natural language and computation. Membership includes the ACL quarterly journal, COMPUTATIONAL LINGUISTICS, reduced registration at most ACL-sponsored conferences, discounts on ACL-sponsored publications, and participation in ACL Special Interest Groups. The ACL journal, Computational Linguistics, continues to be the primary forum for research on computational linguistics and natural language processing. Since 1988, the journal has been published for the ACL by MIT Press to provide a broader distributional base."
The Association for Computers and the Humanities
http://www.ach.org/
"The Association for Computers and the Humanities is an international professional organization. Since its establishment, it has been the major professional society for people working in computer-aided research in literature and language studies, history, philosophy, and other humanities disciplines, and especially research involving the manipulation and analysis of textual materials. The ACH is devoted to disseminating information among its membership about work in the field of humanities computing, as well as encouraging the development and dissemination of significant textual and linguistic resources and software for scholarly research."
The Association for Literary and Linguistic Computing
http://www.allc.org/
The Association for Literary and Linguistic Computing supports the use of computers in the study of language and literature. Issues studied include text analysis, image processing and electronic editions.
The Computer Measurement Group
http://cmg.org/
"The Computer Measurement Group, commonly called CMG®, is a non-profit, worldwide organization of data processing professionals committed to the measurement and management of computer systems. CMG members are primarily concerned with performance evaluation of existing systems to maximize performance (eg. response time, throughput, etc.) and with capacity management where planned enhancements to existing systems or the design of new systems are evaluated to find the necessary resources required to provide adequate performance at a reasonable cost."
Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility - CPSR
http://cpsr.org/
"CPSR is a public-interest alliance of computer scientists and others concerned about the impact of computer technology on society. As technical experts, CPSR members provide the public and policymakers with realistic assessments of the power, promise, and limitations of computer technology. As concerned citizens, we direct public attention to critical choices concerning the applications of computing and how those choices affect society."

What is the IPL?

The Internet Public Library is a public library for the world wide web.
Students from a consortium of colleges and universities with programs in information science develop and maintain the IPL!
Here are some of the partners in the IPL Consortium. A complete list is found on the IPL Consortium page.
