Canadian Poetry Association

"The main aims of the Canadian Poetry Association are: To promote the reading, writing, publishing and preservation of poetry in Canada through the individual efforts of members; to promote communication among poets, publishers and the general public; to encourage leadership and participation from members and to encourage the formation and development of autonomous local chapters." The site has information about the organization and its magazine POEMATA. There are also links to local chapters and publishers, as well as information on digital copyright issues.

3Through a hands-on approach in assembly shows, classroom follow-ups, after school sessions, or at all day in-services, Poetry Alive! works with teachers and students to develop classroom strategies for treating poetry as theater. Using questions that relate to the staging of a poem, teachers and students experience poetry in a creative and cooperative learning environment. Poetry Alive! also offers other programs and special Reading, Writing, and Performance Workshops and Residencies. Additionally, we offer educational materials for the classroom. The Poetry Society of America is attempting to inform people about poetry. They offer awards to poets, they have a publications, they work in collaboration with other organizations to inform the public, and they offer workshops for the public. This web page contains information on the events they are involved with, the workshops, memberships, committee members, publications, and the listing of people who have won their awards.
Academy of American Poets

"The Academy of American Poets was founded in 1934 to support American poets at all stages of their careers and to foster the appreciation of contemporary poetry. The largest organization in the country dedicated specifically to the art of poetry, the Academy sponsors programs nationally. These include National Poetry Month; the most important collection of awards for poetry in the United States; a national series of public readings and residencies; and other programs that provide essential support to American poets, poetry publishers, and readers of poetry." Site includes membership information, a calendar of events, biographies of poets, a "find a poem" search engine, and online poetry exhibitions.
