Soccer

"Association football," known as "football" in many parts of the world; the game that involves kicking a black-and-white round ball and attempting to send it into a goal defended by an opponent.

FIFA is the governing body of world soccer, an international federation of 197 national soccer associations. It is responsible for setting the rules of the game, organizing international competitions such as the World Cup, and settling disputes between member associations. Its website contains the full "Laws of the Game", technical information for coaches and players, regulations and advice for referees, and news and results from FIFA-sanctioned competitions.

Official web site of the USSF, the governing body of Soccer in the United States. The USSF is responsible for overseeing the sport at all levels, from youth to professional. It conducts the training and certification of referees and coaches, oversees competitions such as the US Open Cup, and organizes US national teams. This site contains information on all the above and is browsable by topic.

The United States Indoor Soccer Association is dedicated to the promotion of what it considers to be "one of the few truly American sports." USIndoor provides a forum for its membership, whether professional, adult, or youth leagues and associations. USIndoor offers services directly to its membership and clients, including marketing and sponsorship, standardized rules of the game, specialized referee training and development, consulting for business formation and planning, and representation in the United States Soccer Federation. Third, USIndoor seeks to promote a series of national tournaments.

The USIndoor site includes information on the history of the game, organization, how to become a member of the association, and a calendar of upcoming events. Information on USIndoor's specialized program for the education of referees is available as are classified ads, links to other sources, and a list of useful publications. A chat room is available as well.
