Al-Anon/Alateen
http://www.al-anon.alateen.org/
The mission of Al-Anon/Alateen is to provide "hope and help for families and friends of alcoholics. The Al-Anon Family Groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength, and hope, in order to solve their common problems. We believe alcoholism is a family illness, and that changed attitudes can aid recovery." The Al-Anon/Alateen web site contains information on joining the organization, questionnaires to identify problem drinking, and an on-line magazine. The 12 Step and 12 Tradition programs are described. You can order literature on-line and there is a special section of information for professionals.
Alcoholics Anonymous
http://www.aa.org/
"The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety." This site provides information on contacting A.A., membership, locations outside U.S. and Canada, and information about the recovery process and techniques.
