"The legal heir and succeesor to the Grand Army of the Republic. Regular membership open to male descendants of Union veterans. Associate membership for males without a Union ancestor. Promotes patriotism and preservation of Civil War monuments and battle sites. The site... provides the history of the Grand Army of the Republic as well as the SUVCW itself. Lists National Officers, Department Officers and has an e-mail system for leaving your name if your are interested in joining. The site also has links to the Allied Orders (women's organizations for female descendants of Union Veterans), the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States (males whose Union ancestors were commissioned officers), and the Sons of Confederate Veterans (males whose ancestors fought for the South - the Confedarate States of America)."
