Swinging Through Time

Duke theater marquee

In addition to materials relating to the history of the Graystone Ballroom itself, the Graystone Museum has become a repository for all manner of jazz artifacts from publicity shots to newspaper clippings, from oil paintings to flyers. This shot reflects a Detroit theater engagement for trumpeter Charles Victor Moore, a veteran of McKinney’s Cotton Pickers who continued to perform until near the end of his life in 1992.
