Borden Flats Light

"Fall River, Massachusetts"

Built: 1881
Automated: 1963

"This 48-foot tall tower is constructed of bolted cast-iron plates. It sits on an oversize caisson that has been submerged onto a ledge at the mouth of the Taunton River. There are five decks inside the cylindrical tower, the top four being accessible by circular cast-iron stairs. The second and third levels provided the crew's living quarters."
