Owls Head Light

"Owls Head, Maine"

Built: 1826
Automated: 1989

"Situated on a promontory south of Rockland Harbor in Penobscot Bay, this light is located in the scenic Owls Head State Park. Although the tower is only 20 feet tall, it sits on a hill that places it 100 feet above the water. A fourth-order Fresnel lens was intalled in 1856 and still shines from the light today.
