Race Point Light

"Provincetown, Massachusetts"

Built: 1876
Automated: 1978

"This light is located at the western tip of Cape Cod's ""hook"". It is a 40-foot tall cylindrical cast-iron tower lined with brick. It replaced a 20-foot tall rubble stone structure built in 1816. In 1995 the entire station looked like a deserted ghost town. It is currently in the process of being restored and will one day become a historical museum open to the public."
