Roche’s Point Light

“Roche’s Point, Co Cork, Ireland”

Built: 1835

This light sits on Roche’s Point at the site of an old watch tower at the entrance to Cork Harbour. It replaced a smaller tower that had been built in 1817 but deemed too small for this location. The old light was dismantled and rebuilt as the Duncannon North Light in 1838. This new light stands 49 feet high and is 105 feet above high water.
