"I think it is important to make note of how they have been changed and to try to explain why. The second matter is the order in which the poems appear in the Selected. They are not arranged in chronological order. The book, therefore, does not read as an historical profile of bissett's development as a poet. Although there is no indication made by the use of headings or other signs in the collection, it is my belief that bissett has arranged the poems in a specific order for specific artistic purposes which I will elucidate later."
