The "New" Jules Verne
http://JV.Gilead.org.il/evans/thenewjv.html
"The publication in France of a 'lost' Jules Verne novel called Paris au XXe siècle (Paris in the 20th Century, untranslated as of this writing) has caused quite a stir in the media during the past few months. And rightly so. It is a rare and noteworthy event when a legendary author often cited as the 'Father of Science Fiction' suddenly reappears among us, some 100 years later, and describes for us how he visualized our world of today. But there is also much more to this story than meets the eye. This futuristic tale, authenticated as one of Verne's earliest, could prove to be of revolutionary significance for literary scholars as well as for Verne's reputation among the traditional reading public."

Jules Verne's Paris in the Twentieth Century
http://JV.Gilead.org.il/sfs/taves.71.html
"Jules Verne's novel Paris in the Twentieth Century, just published by Random House, is simultaneously less significant than some publicity has implied, while still a work of inestimable historical importance. Purely as a work of literature, Paris in the Twentieth Century lacks the qualities of the best novels that have insured Verne's reputation for over a century. Nonetheless, Paris in the Twentieth Century will be of interest to readers for two primary reasons, because of its prophecies, but even more because of its early position in the development of dystopian science fiction."
