Jose Barreiro was born in 1948, in Camaguay, Cuba. Barreiro received M.A. from the State University of New York, Buffalo. Barreiro is editor-in-chief, Awe:kon Press, Cornell University, is also a founding member of the Native American Press Association. Barreiro is a writer, editor and lecturer.
