John (Fire) Lame Deer , 1903-1976

John Fire Lame Deer was born on the Rosebud Reservation in South Daota.Lame Deer's autobiography tells of his life as a rancher, rodeo rider, reservation police officer and holy man, including descriptions of the Sioux vision quest, sun dance and healing rituals. He was also known under the name John Fire.
