his Native American origins thusly: “The Bois Brule were a branch
of the Huron and Algonquin in the East but when we moved to the
Great Plains with our Cree, Assiniboine and Ojibwa families and
fought to defend the land against the English they called us
Metis. As Metis also means the creator’s children we kind of let
it stand. I also directly descend from the Cree, Ojibwa,
Saulteaux, Assiniboine, Chippewa, Huron, Ouendat, Abenaki,
Mascouten, Algonquin, Iroquois, Nipissing and other Amerindian
families. We are historically a trading family with blood ties
to all of the known tribes. Metis is the modern name for the
tribe.” His educational background is in English and Philosophy,
and researching and writing about his complex Amerindian origins
is his life’s passion. He is a father of two.
