Titanic, Lusitania and the Forgotten Empress: Gallery
"This gallery tells the stories of three of the most famous and most tragic ships in history. Their names were Titanic, Lusitania and Empress of Ireland. Each was a proud symbol of Edwardian Britain." Compilation of data on campaign contributions for the 2008 presidential election. Candidate profiles include total funds raised and spent, cash on hand, debts, and a breakdown of sources of the funds (such as individual contributions). Also includes week-by-week comparisons, a donor lookup, contributions by industry, and other data. This program seeks "to promote and provide equal access to communication and learning through described and captioned educational media" for those who are blind, visually impaired, deaf, hard of hearing, or deaf-blind. MAPLight.org: Money and Politics: Illuminating the Connection
"MAPLight.org brings together information on campaign contributions and votes in the California legislature." It "currently includes complete data for the 2003-2004 California legislative session. ... [It is] currently processing data from 2005-2006." The database is searchable by interest group, legislator, subject, and bill number, and includes material about legislator voting, campaign contributions, and supporters and opponents of bills. This service provides current reports on traffic conditions on major roads and highways in larger cities in northern and southern California, smaller California cities, and Phoenix, Arizona. Colored dots on maps indicate road speeds and accident areas. Also includes a "route retriever" that provides the fastest and shortest routes between given points. Personalized traffic reports require a fee. "Sigalerts are named after an early traffic reporter in Los Angeles, Loyd Sigmon."
