According to the BRFSS, "The BRFSS, the world?s largest telephone survey, tracks health risks in the United States. Information from the survey is used to improve the health of the American people." The surveys track behavioral patterns that have negative health consequences.

The CDC WONDER--Wide-ranging ONline Data for Epidemiologic Research-- homepage states, "WONDER provides a single point of access to a wide variety of reports and numeric public health data." This includes 40 text-based and numeric databases. Public-use available datasets available on WONDER include information on, "mortality (deaths), cancer incidence, HIV and AIDS, behavioral risk factors, diabetes, natality (births), census data and many other topics."
