Tennessee Historical Society

The Tennessee Historical Society is a non-profit, membership organization headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee. Established in 1849, the Society's purpose is to "promote interest in and preservation of all matters relating to the history of Tennessee." Activities undertaken to support this purpose include publication of the Tennessee Historical Quarterly, public programs and lecture series, special projects such as publication of The Tennessee Encyclopedia of History and Culture, and active collection of artifacts and documents important to the history of Tennessee.
