Bluefield, West Virginia is the site of one of Norfolk Southern's freight yards. Here coal cars are gathered from nearby Appalachian mines and assembled into long trains for power plants, steel mills, and also for export shipment. This photograph shows an eastbound coal train leaving Bluefield for the east coast.
