Norfolk Southern northbound autoracks
at Elgin, Tennessee

northbound train of autoracks

Elgin is located in Northeast Tenessee along Norfolk Southern's Rathole Division. The Rathole is a nickname given to the line running from Harriman, Tennessee to Danville, Kentucky. The name was given because of the numerous tunnels on the line. This northbound train of autoracks causes a cool breeze on a hot July day as it heads back to automobile assembly plants in Michigan.
