The story, A Sound of Thunder, by Ray Bradbury was an amazing short novel in which was well received by many. But, in early 2000’s there was a movie adaptation of the short novel written by Ray Bradbury. The movie was directed by Peter Hyams, and many questioned what similarities were between the movie and the short novel. In the movie, many things were taken out and changed from the short story. But, at the same time, many things were the same as the story. For instance, the characters in the movie stayed the same, just as in the short story. But then again, some characters were added in the film adaptation that were not in the story. Another similarity is the most of the main plot of the movie was the same as the short story. Peter Hyams used and transformed the …show more content…
One of them is the character Travis, “This Is Mr. Travis, your safari guide in the past” (Bradbury 1). To explain, Peter uses Travis as the safari guide in the movie, just as Ray used Travis as one in the book. But a way he transformed the story, is that in the novel they are not able to meet themselves in the past, but in the movie, they were fully able to. “’That’d be a paradox,’” said the latter. “’Time doesn’t permit that sort of mess-a man meting himself’” (Bradbury 4). Many who watched the film criticized it for not being closely similar/ comparable to the short novel, but in a way Peter used the story as a foundation for the movie. Another way peter transformed the story is the effect of change, “A little error here would multiply in sixty million years, all out of proportion” (Bradbury 4). Furthermore, Ray used the time effect as something like a presidential election or a butterfly, Peter uses just the butterfly effect, but in a different way. Peter Yhams transformed and crated the movie based on the short novel by Ray Bradbury in many interesting and cool
Compare and contrast Be filled with different emotions with this story, freak the mighty. Both the book and the movie are enjoyable, but they share many and differences and similarities and differences. Freak the Mighty and the movie The Mighty make you absorb literature. Max lived in a duplex accross the street from Max.
In my opinion there are a lot of comparisons between the film and the book, but there are also differences between them too, but also they have impacted the audience in both the film and the
Imagine seeing character from a film walking in a obscure solitary hallway where you see a vast shadow of a mole trying to devour you... this might seem cool but this is indeed one of the major differences between the City of Ember film and the Bible. If you want to have my opinion, I would assay that the Bible is a lot better than the film, some other differences are such as adding incident, speed of story and events, and characters. In the City of Ember film they had to add some events so that the motion picture wouldn't get boring. One of the events that the picture had and the Bible doesn't would be the gigantic mole because the mole had some major events such as consumption the mayor and trying to butcher Lina and Doon.
The storyline of the book “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” and the storyline of the movie Sleepy Hollow may have a few similarities, but they are actually very different. Both stories convey similar characters, but the details in the story are very different. There has also been a cartoon and even a television show made about the original story. In the television show that was made, everything is totally different. The storyline is nothing like either the book or the movie.
Yes, the basics of the plot are similar, but in the movie, there are changed details, mainly like missing scenes in the movie that the book originally had, or simplified events. In the movie, there was an additional girl character that was not in the book. The house Moon eventually came to at the end of the story was supposed to be a brick house. Some of the things the characters in the movie said were a bit different from what was said in the book. Things like that.
There are many movies and books that have tons of similarities and differences. I choosed A Series of Unfortunate Events, because of the nail biting moments that are in the book and movie. Plus, and you just want to know what happened. They both have many differences, but not many similarities. Some of the differences are very big changes and might make you like the other one more.
In particular, Willy Harris. Besides showing Willy as a wealthy and positive character in the movie they also showed traits that the other characters can really trust him. Different from the movie, in the book they don’t describe Willy, not even a hint of what his character is like. As a result, Willy doesn’t really seem like a big problem in the story leaving the reader unaware something like him stealing all of the money would happen. Equally important, Asagai was shown differently in the book than the movie.
Unbroken Movie and Book Comparison “A moment of pain is worth a lifetime of glory.” Pete Zamperini told his younger brother Louie Zamperini when Louie was leaving for the Olympics. Recently, I have read and watched Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. Upon doing so, I discovered that the book was better than the movie version of this best-selling novel. In the book, Louie started running because of eugenics.
Mary Shelly;s bookFrankentien is a well known piece of literature. Although it was controversial at its time, it has become a famous piece of literature ha even had had several movie made about it. While there have been a lot of movies produced, most of them do not follow the original plot. The 2004 hallmark version of Frankenstein follows the book relatively close, having a lot of things in common with the book, but, it also has a lot of differences. The movie adds more modern day elements, drama, and the possibility of a sequel while the book just tries to tell a story.
In 1973, the beloved children’s classic, Charlotte’s Web, made its first appearance onto the screen. Over 30 years later, a newer version of the classic hit the big screen. Since both were closely based on the original book written by E. B. White, the movies still hold true to the core values and overall plot. Between the two films, there arose many similarities, but there were still a few variations in the two films. This essay will compare and contrast the ways in which the original animated version of Charlotte’s Web in 1973 and the live-action version of Charlotte’s Web in 2006 on terms of character’s setting, personalities, and plot.
After reading The Perfect Storm, by Sebastian Junger, I have concluded that the book kept my attention throughout, but I believe it could have improved. The storyline is scattered among many different stories, all centered around the meteorological nightmare of October of 1991. The setting, time, and place quickly change from story to story as most end in human lives being slain by the storm. I believe the movie is structured better, as it is centered around only one story, the story of a Gloucester, Massachusetts fishing crew on the Andrea Gail. I do not think the author had the experience of these men, whom he wrote about to remember and respect.
There are always two sides to a story. For example, Disney’s famous, award winning movie, Frozen. There similarities, differences, and plot twists between the Disney movie and actual story. The original version is called “The Snow Queen” by Hans Christian Anderson. It was published on the early 1930’s.
Into the Wild is a personal tale of Chris McCandless’ journey as he runs away from home to try and live in the Alaskan wilderness. The book follows the story through the eyes of the author as he investigates the mysteriousness of Chris’ life through the eyes of those he came in contact with and the journals left behind. However like every book adapted into movie there are slight differences and characterizations throughout the story that aren’t expressed deeply enough or seen in a different light. Into the Wild is no different.

The Notebook The well known romantic story, “The Notebook,” written by the novelist, Nicholas Sparks, portrays two people falling in love during the 1940s. The book was written in 1996 and the movie was released in 2004. Nicholas Sparks was inspired by a real life couple and that is why the movie is so realistic. The main characters Noah Calhoun and Allie Hamilton are played by popular young actors, Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. Though the book and movie are based on the same love story, they have many differences, some minor and some major.
