Mobsters were a group of men with real character, and real morals. Al Capone just happened to be the most respected, and notorious mobster of all time. Some people chose to walk on the opposite side of the street when they seen him, on the other hand he would help old women cross the street. Although Capone's family had no ties to the mob, the neighborhood they lived in was mob central. Childhood struggles and young life influences led to his criminal behavior as an adult, which started out as a success but slowly demolished.

When he was nineteen Capone married Mae coughlin just weeks after their first child Albert Francis (“Al Capone - Facts…” 1). Capone moved his family to baltimore and tried getting a real job again where he was a bookkeeper for a building company (“Al Capone - Facts…” 1). His father passed away of a heart attack in 1920, that drove him to go back to his old times (“Al Capone - Facts…” 1). Torrio gave him a call one day and invited him to Chicago, Capone pounced at the opportunity (“Al Capone - Facts…” 1). Back in Chicago Torrio was watching over his booming business which involved gambling prostitution (“Al Capone - Facts…” 1). But with the eighteenth amendment stopping the sale and consumption of alcohol (“Al Capone - Facts…” 1). Torrio started in a more lucrative field : Bootlegging (“Al Capone - Facts…” 1). As an ex thug and bookkeeper, Capone brought two things, street smarts and his expertise with numbers to Torrio’s Operations (“Al Capone - Facts…” 1). Torrio instantly realized Capone’s skills and promoted him to partner (“Al Capone - Facts…” 1). But Capone had a problem keeping himself under the radar, He developed a reputation as a drinker and fighter (“Al Capone - Facts…” 1). He hit a parked taxi cab while he was driving drunk (“Al Capone - Facts…” 1). This was his first time getting arrested, Torrio quickly used his governmental-city connections to get him off (“AlCapone - Facts…” 1).Capone cleaned himself up when his family arrived, Capone even bought a modest, middle class home on the south-side (“Al Capone - Facts…” 1). Life Was unfolding in front of Capone's eyes but problems never seem to disappear. In 1923 the city of Chicago elected a mayor who announced that he was going to destroy all crime rates, Torrio and Capone moved their headquarters beyond the city to a suburb Cicero(“Al Capone - Facts…” 1).
