In November 2015, Robert Dear executed an attack on an abortion clinic, Planned Parenthood, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After a six hour standoff, this attack ended with the death of one police officer and two civilians and injuries to five police officers and four civilians. Robert Dear, 59, was motivated by his Christian faith and believes that his actions were just. Dear’s whole life was painted with crime, violence, and radical demonstrations of his religion. Even a New York Times article made him out as “an angry and occasionally violent, deeply disturbed, and extremely religious man with a long history with law enforcement.” Throughout his life Dear had been married 3 times with all ending in divorce and usually an accusation of some sort. Dear’s first marriage ended after six years in 1985 and his second ended in 1993. The second marriage ended with his ex-wife, Barbara Micheau, citing his infidelity and wasteful spending. In the sworn affidavit of their divorce filing, Micheau also accused Dear of “kick[ing] her [and beating] her head against the floor” as well as addressed Dear’s severe emotional problems and describes him as a man who …show more content…
In his divorce with Micheau, she described the way Dear practices his faith as “a Christian and is extremely evangelistic, but does not follow the Bible in his actions.” Dear justified his actions with the nature of salvation and the promise of forgiveness in the Christian faith. Dear demonstrated many religious expressions in just the usual words that he said and mainly on the internet. For example in one situation Dear posted “Turn to JESUS or burn in hell,” and on another site on Oct. 7, 2005, “WAKE UP SINNERS U CANT SAVE YOURSELF U WILL DIE AND WORMS SHALL EAT YOUR FLESH, NOW YOUR SOUL IS GOING SOMEWHERE.” Dear advocated for his religion aggressively at whatever cost and that is what motivated him to commit this horrible
On May 12, 1983, Suzanne Figueroa was abducted at gunpoint in a child care center’s parking lot after dropping off her child. Subsequently, Figueroa was sexually assaulted and sliced with a knife. Suzanne and her husband, Luis Figueroa, sued North Park, the child center operator doing business at Evangelical Covenant Church, for negligent failure to provide adequate parking lot security. After the district court ruled against the Figueroas, they appealed the case arguing material issues of fact exist to prove the Evangelical Covenant Church owed them a duty of protection. The appeals court disagreed and affirmed the district court’s judgment.

Mark Brittain could be described as dishonest, as he lies about many things throughout the book. For example, his relationship with Jody Mueller, while they were dating he had gotten her pregnant and not wanting anyone to know he sent to alone to have an abortion but, when in CAT class whilst talking on the subject of abortion he said it was wrong and against his religion to get abortions. After this had happened, Jody told the class about her abortion in which Mark called her a liar. After being released from the hospital after his suicide attempt, he went back to the class and told them the truth, “‘i’m a liar’ Mark said. ‘I think the last words I said to the class were that Jody Mueller was a liar.
The goal is to defund Planned Parenthood for a year which means tax payers would stop paying. They want this to stop because this organization supports abortions and they are responsible for more than 300,000 of them per year in which they receive hundreds of millions tax payer dollars (http://www.focusonthefamily.com/socialissues/promos/defund-planned-parenthood). As I’m thinking about the steps in how a bill becomes a law, there are many factors that can help/hurt it. First off, a bill is introduced by a senator or representative (pg. 195).
“Defending the unborn against their own disabilities.” Margaret Sanger is known for being a birth control, population control, and a eugenics activist. As a eugenics activist she believed that the science of improving a human population by controlled breeding to increase the occurrence of desirable heritable characteristics. But before getting into too much detail about how she was the founder of “Planned Parenthood”, let's hear her backstory.

About 10,000 people assembled at the State House in Columbia, South Carolina, to join in "Stand with God, Pro-Family Rally," with Republican presidential candidates Ted Cruz and Rick Perry along with several US senators and pastors from across the state. The hot topics at the rally were religion and the issues of abortion and same-sex marriage, with participation of people from neighboring states of North Carolina and Georgia. What has the power to take a life has the power to preserve it, what has the power to love has the power to hate, what has the power to make the world a better place has the power to ruin it. The monumental power of choice resides in all of us and dictates the course of history. But the choice to live is one right that is being stolen every time a mother says no to the growing baby inside of her. Planned Parenthood is an industry that is worth 1 billion dollars that builds its foundation on the death of one million babies a year. In comparison the Holocaust, which was a reign of terror over the “inferior” populations of Europe, had over 11 million people who were helplessly murdered in the span of 12 years.

Planned Parenthood receives about twelve percent of its $528.4 million dollars from the government through grants and reimbursements from a law called Title X. Title X gives money to not only Planned Parenthood but also hospitals, schools, health departments, and other non- profits.
Judith Thomson’s A Defense of Abortion is an article defending abortion on the grounds of rights, duties, and justice. Thomson uses various thought experiments to represent different circumstances surrounding a pregnancy and the permissibility of abortion in these circumstances. One such thought experiment that she uses in her argument is the burglar example. If you open a window and a burglar climbs into your house, anti-abortionists would argue that the burglar has a right to stay in your house and you have a duty to shelter him because you are partially responsible for his presence there. Even if you install bars specifically to keep out burglars and the burglar still manages to break in then you are still partially responsible and he still
In “A Defense of Abortion,” Judith Thomson argues with a unique approach regarding the topic of abortion. For the purpose of the argument, Thomas agrees to go against her belief and constructs an argument based on the idea that the fetus is a person at conception. She then formulates her arguments concerning that the right to life is not an absolute right. There are certain situations where abortion is morally permissible. She believes that the fetus’s right to life does not outweigh the right for the woman to control what happens to her own body.
