Anthony Garcia Bible as Lit Mr. Wignmen 26 February 2018 Joseph interprets dreams of two prisoners The king of Egypt decided to disobey their master by talking bad about him behind his back, the king of Egypt who was extremely powerful and fearless Pharaoh, the king of Egypt was infuriated with his two servants, Cupbearer and Baker, and due to his anger he decided to throw them in to a disgusting old prison. This was the same prison where the son of Jacob, Joseph was kept in. Joseph was locked away in a prison by the pharaoh's wife for trying to make Joseph lay with her. There in the …show more content…
Joseph confronts cupbearer and baker and tells them to tell him their dreams and god will answer the questions they have. Cupbearer told Joseph “In my dream I saw a vine in front of me which was bursting with green everywhere, and on the vine were three branches. As soon as it budded, it blossomed, and its clusters ripened into juicy crimson grapes. Pharaoh’s cup, which was made of gold was in my hand, and I took the juicy crimson grapes, squeezed them into Pharaoh’s cup and put the cup in his fairly large hand.” This dream consisted of the cupbearer experiencing something miraculous in the next three days. Joseph told cupbearer ‘In three days you will be let out of prison, and you will become Pharaoh’s cupbearer again.’ Joseph also told cupbearer to to mention his name to the pharaoh so he can get out of that disgusting prison because he doesn't belong in there. The baker was hesitant to tell Joseph his dream at first but once he heard that cupbearer got good news he said ‘In my dream there were three baskets of white pastries stacked on my head. The top basket contained all kinds of pastries for Pharaoh, but the birds came and ate them from the basket on my head.’, and to this Joseph responded to the baker ‘The three baskets are three days. Within three days Pharaoh will lift off your head and stick your body on a pole. And the ravens will eat away your white flesh.” and …show more content…
He cried out “Some time ago, you were angry with the chief baker and me, and you imprisoned us in the palace of the captain of the guard. One night the chief baker and I each had a dream, and each dream had its own meaning. There was a young Hebrew man with us in the prison who was a slave of the captain of the guard. We told him our dreams, and he told us what each of our dreams meant. And everything happened just as he had predicted. I was restored to my position as cupbearer, and the chief baker was executed and impaled on a pole.” The pharaoh sent for Joseph at once and he was quickly brought from the horrible prison and brought to the Egyptian home. Joseph cut his beard and changed his clothes and came to the Pharaoh, the pharaoh then states to Joseph that he had a strange dream, and no one can interpret it, not even the wisest of men. The pharaoh had heard of Joseph gift from the city that he can hear a dream and be able to interpret it. Joseph told the pharaoh that he would use the power of God to help him determine what his dream was about. Then Pharaoh then told Joseph both of his dreams, the cow dream and the crops

Joseph later found out that the cat had in fact lost its tail some how during its life, rather than it being the result of a deviation, but yet did not resign from his magistrate position although he should have. This shows how prideful Joseph is of his role in Waknuk as well as how devoted and determined he is to making sure there are no mutants whatshover. Another instance of Joseph’s devotedness was after his newborn baby, Petra, was born. In Waknuk, families do not recognize or pay any attention to their newborn until it receives a normalcy certificate from the inspector. Joseph’s wife gave birth to a baby, and had two babies who did not receive a normalcy certificate prior to this one.
Nat was then sold, and moved to Thomas Moore and then John Travis. He began to see more and more images and started hearing things. One day, Nat said “ I saw white spirits and black spirits engaged in battle, and the sun was darkened- the thunder rolled in the heavens, and the blood flowed in streams.” Nat interpreted this dream as a sign from God, and decided to take action. He told other slaves that he thought God had chosen him to lead them from bondage.
He receives a dream that he will obtain a beautiful horse and scalp 4 enemy Indians (see page 121). His tale is told as his tribe just gotten out of the winter season and was hunting for meat. I do not know how a dream can be so specific in unfolding possible future events. I rarely
How else could a man become so rich in a few months’ time, unless pharaoh had singled him out for favor?””Now, what shall we do about it?” “But we can do something, that much is certain. We can find out more. I will watch Gebu, see where he goes.” “ His companions, we must discover his companions.”
In a since, if his dream was true, then he lost the point of redemption, and could not handle the truth. In his story, the truth did not set him free, but this caused him to be a slave wasting away in his prison called
after the case was seemingly resolved following Patz's confession. This is a depiction of figurative language due to the face that Jacob cannot truly be a pariah; however, the public sees him as
Joe, devastated by his paralyzing injuries, has come to the conclusion that mankind is cruel. Mankind has caused him to fall into this coffin where he has it worse off than the slaves and prisoners; “He thought of them and he thought they were luckier than I am they could move they could see each other they were more nearly living than I and the were not imprisoned as securely” (page 182). Joe talks extensively about the treatment of slaves, prisoners, Jesus, and any man that is brings guilt to the reader's mind. Joe finds a reason in each story that he is worse off than they; whether it be they can die or as simple as they can hear. Joe finds them to be luckier than he is because all of the individuals he names can see, hear, walk and die; Joe has no choice except to sit and rot.
This was part of what was about to occur in the coming of Jesus Christ. Hesiod’s “false prophecy”, so to speak, is a lame copy or piracy of the truth by the father of all lies that tries to fool mankind and corrupt that which is eternal. Next is the interpretation of the dream: This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king. Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all.
He is expressing that dreams are full of mistakes and misconceptions and that humans need to focus on reality and their surroundings, because reality is more fabulous. A biblical allusion is used when he alludes the way God lives to human life in “God himself culminates in the
Dreams have a very specific function in Himes’ stories as fantasies to keep the prisoner’s minds occupied. The dreams give the readers an insight into the minds of the characters that allows the readers to connect with characters they would otherwise
What I found the most interesting about Joseph was how after he lured the women to his house and killed them, he would chop their bodies up and feed the remains to his alligators. However, the thing I found the most interesting about him is also the thing I found the most disturbing about him. I think it is twisted to do something to a person’s body after they are
Chapter 1 Summary Review The most important thing in the story of Joseph is to see how God will start to reveal Himself. We see G-d 's spirit in Joseph life starting at very young age of 17. G-d by his spirit is starting to give Joseph dreams and understanding to interpret the dreams. Also we see Him appear to Joseph in the wilderness as an angel of the Lord.
After this event, Jonah is swallowed by a giant fish, created by God. For three days Jonah prayed to the Lord from inside the fish. Then finally, the fish released him to land. In the second half of the book, God goes to Jonah for a second time, calling him to proclaim His message to Nineveh. Jonah obeyed God, telling the
