In today’s society the term “rags to riches” is heavily overused, someone can strike it rich in the stock market or the lottery and earn the term. However, a few key figures in history have actually lived a “rags to riches” life. Andrew Carnegie is one such man. Carnegie was a brilliant inventor, businessmen and investor and a man I could learn so much from, even over only a brief dinner. Mr. Carnegie would likely begin by telling me about his humble beginnings. He would explain that he immigrated to the United States with practically nothing and was able become a man once worth over 12 billion dollars in today’s currency. I would ask him about all of the challenges he experienced making his life as successful as he did. I believe that by hearing about the difficult things Carnegie encountered I would become motivated to go above and beyond with my life. I have started my own lawn service and believe I have a better work ethic than most kids my age, but Mr. Carnegie had a work ethic that rivaled an ox. He realized the need the world had for cheap steel and through smart inventing and business decisions he fulfilled the need and became extremely wealthy doing so. Andrew Carnegie worked hard to earn what he did in his life and hearing about it would help me. Carnegie was different than your average “rich guy”, he donated his fortune to charity and was always looking to help others. Eating dinner with Mr. Andrew Carnegie would be an invaluable experience. He would give me advice and insight for my own life, and through his words I would be extremely lucky to someday become half the man I shared the dinner table
