Holocaust Heroes
In the Grand Mosque of Paris it says, “No Jew was safe from arrest and deportation.” (DeSaix, 92) The Holocaust was during 1933 and took place in Germany. Adolf Hitler was the person that started this war. About 6 million Jews were murdered in the Holocaust. There were many heroes during the Holocaust such as Anne Frank, Freddie Oversteegen, and Oskar Schindler.
One of the many heroes of the Holocaust is Anne Frank. Anne Frank was a young German girl who lived in the Holocaust. Anne and her family went into hiding but soon was found by the Nazis. Freddie Oversteegen was another young girl in Holocaust history. She helped her and other Jews by fighting Nazi soldiers. In the article, it says that Freddie Oversteegen said, “It was a necessary evil, killing those who betrayed the good people.” (The Washington Post) She was a great hero during this time because, like she said, it was necessary to kill the soldiers. She fought so that she could be free. Freddie Oversteegen was another great hero in the Holocaust, but there are still many more.
Another hero is Oskar Schindler. Oskar Schindler was not a Jew, but a good man during the Holocaust. He played a good role, and saved many lives. In the article, it says that Oskar Schindler said, “I was now resolved to do everything in my power to defeat the system.” (BrainyQuote) Oskar Schindler wanted to stop what was happening during the Holocaust. This quote shows that he wanted to save the Jews. Oskar Schindler was another one of many heroes.

In the Book Thief and in the chapter “The Secret Room” in the novel The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom many people risked their lives to help the Jews. Nazi Germany was a very dark and horrific place during the Holocaust. There, Germans had all the power and Jews were treated inhumanely. Many of them could not even show their faces or they would be punished.
Imagine being torn from your home, forced into camps, discriminated against to the extreme, separated from your family, and possibly even killed just because of your religious beliefs. Many of Europe's Jews suffered this treatment. About 5-6 million jews out of 9 million Jews died in the holocaust. Marion Blumenthal-Lazan, was a jew who did not die. She should receive the Holocaust Medal of Honour.
The holocaust is a very sad time, but not every person was bad one lady believed to be a good person is Miep Gies. Miep Gies was a very loving and caring person she managed to take care of all of the people living in the secret annex. Miep took the risk of taking care of the lives of the people in the annex even though there was a chance she could lose hers. She is very thoughtful and giving Anne Frank’s diary was saved because of Miep.
The Holocaust was when the Nazis murdered 11,000,000 people. One of the most famous holocaust survivors was Elie Wiesel. He wrote a memoir Night. Some of the terrible things that happened to Elie included beating, starvation, and forced marches. This kind of trauma changes a person.

The Holocaust was a mass genocide led my Adolf Hitler against Jewish people. During the Holocaust the main character, a young Jewish girl named Sonia experiences many horrendous things. These things consist of starvation, horrid living conditions, death marches, getting beaten and being a witness to murder. The Holocaust is a horrific event that very much could have been prevented, but only a handful of people tried to prevent it. If they hid Jews, if they gave Jews food and water, if they saved merely one Jew, they changed history. They showed the Nazis and Hitler that they could never win. Irena Sendler was apart of that handful of people. She saved 2,500 children from torture and death and risked her life everyday to do it.

During the Holocaust, Hitler made the final solution that affected Elie and his family, just because they were Jewish. Over 6 million Jews were affected or killed by the Holocaust which ended up making millions of Jews who survived have depression, anxiety, and many other problems they had to overcome because of the Holocaust. Jews that were in concentration camps were considered not human because of their religion and were faced with never-ending horror. Holocaust survivors faced horrific events and had to overcome them by having bravery and strength to persevere through the Holocaust.

Schindler was a hero to many Jews and will forever be someone who they honor. During the holocaust, thousands of Jews were killed. Schindler had risked everything he had and saved 1,200 Jews from being killed. No one is sure why he did it, but he did bribe many of the other Nazi’s with his money and accessories to receive more and more Jews in his factory.
