Proper Citation in Academic Writing

One of the most important part writing is using other people’s ideas. It is important that you show that you really understand the things that you have read from their materials and you can use it on your own way, for the fact that it is an important skill for every student. You need to make your own version base on how you understand it. Reading others written ideas help you enhance yours, this will help you to make a good paper.

You need to show that you really understand the topic and that you can suggests or contribute to the topic. And if you are making contributions you need to make sure that you support it by referring to other people’s work. This will make your argument stronger. By reporting, you just report other’s ideas using your own words. You can explain it briefly if you want it short or translate it you want the same length. The other one is by direct quotation, you can put the same words or the exact words of the author but you have to make sure that you quote it. Quoting must always have a good. We cannot always quote one’s work, it will be only use when needed. Your paper must be a combination of information and not a bunch of quotations. And if you are using direct quotation you must quote the exact words or phrases as they are in the original.

In citing sources for academic papers, a student often uses books or other secondary sources. You should always put references to those secondary sources at the end of the papers, so called bibliography. Bibliography is a list of all the sources you have used in your academic paper. It includes the authors’ names, titles of the works, the names and locations of the publisher of the sources, and the page numbers of your
