AP is an acute or chronic inflammatory process around the apex of a tooth root; it is primarily a sequel to microbial infection of the teeth pulp space. AP is a remarkably wide spread disease with an obvious cumulative economic impact, especially when we consider the cost and training need for its only viable treatment which is root canal treatment or retreatment. (Boucher et al. 2002; Buckley et al. 1995; Dugas et al. 2003; Figdor 2002; Kabak et al. 2005; Marcus et al. 2006; Tsuneishi M et al. 2005) Diagnosis of AP requires assessment of the patient’s symptoms and signs. However, a majority of AP cases is a symptomatic, so the diagnosis is based mainly on the radiographic examination.(Paul et al. 2004) A parameter is defined as a ‘risk indicator’ …show more content…
-All teeth have been recorded according to FDI nomenclature. Radiographic Examination: A combination of panoramic and peri-apical radiographs was taken by a dental experienced radiologist, using Cranex 3+ Ceph (Sore dex orion corporation, Finland) X ray unit and Kodak (MXG and Dental Intra oral E- speed) films (Estman Kodak Company, Rochester New York USA). The prei-apical radiograph has been taken when the tooth apical area was not clear on the panoramic view. The paralleling technique was used for taking the peri-apical radiographs (using Endo Ray II film holder, Dentsply Rinn Corporation USA). An experienced dental assistant processed the films manually. Radiographic Evaluation: From the radiographic survey, all teeth excluding third molars were recorded according to the FDI nomenclature. Teeth have been categorized as; …show more content…
Number and location of teeth with root filling having identifiable AP. Number and location of RF teeth. Satisfactory length extension of root filling: filling material present in the root canal within 0-2 mm of the radiographic apex. Unsatisfactory length extension of root filling: filling material present in the root canal more than 2 mm from the radiographic apex (shorter or extruded beyond the apex). The observer The radiographs were examined by one observer (AbdulRhman, I.) assisted by an experienced radiologist, under standardized conditions using uniformly illuminated viewing box. The intra-observer reproducibility was evaluated by a double scoring of randomly selected 50 patients. The intra-observer agreement test produced a Cohen’s Kappa value of 0.951. Data analysis The Statistical Package for social Sciences (SPSS) version 15 was used for data management. The data was then transferred to the software of the Epidemiologic Perspectives and Innovation programme (PEPI-for-Windows). The data was analysed using the chi-square test and odds ratio at confidence level of 95% and significant level of 5%. P value (probability) less than
Beverly Jimenez, also known as, ‘Dr.Sissy’, stretches out of her petite, cozy office and steps into the ample operatory with dark orange walls and sticky purple chairs. Sounds of suction and the metal clanking of tools can be heard. She is asked to take a look at her patient's teeth whenever she is ready. She takes a seat on the low stool and opens her metal tools from their blue transparent package. She begins to examine the teeth of a young girl.
It is difficult to determine if tooth loss was a result of either advancing age or pathology. However, due to substantial bone resorption (bone loss) of both the mandible and maxilla, tooth loss occurred years before death. It is hypothesized that this individual either was able
Abscesses occur for a variety of reasons, cause extreme pain, and can be treated with much success. If left untreated, however, bacteria can spread into other areas of the mouth, causing serious medical conditions. Periodontal disease can cause the formation of an abscess, which is more common in cats that have a tendency to bite or chew frequently. If left untreated, facial or mouth traumas, bacterial infections, and diabetes can all contribute to the formation of an abscess. Symptoms of tooth root abscess are the following: - Bad breath - Loose teeth - Facial swelling - A
Good morning Mr. Smith, I am the dean of academics in Sonoran Science Academy-Tucson. We would like to have our AP Statistics as dual enrollment course through GCU. Dr. Martin Sade checked your Math 274 Probability and Statistics course syllabus. He told that we covered the same content in our AP Statistics class. Dr. Martin Sade has PhD in Math.
Self-report assessments possess the possibility of response bias and test taking attitudes. Clinicians will use the results to inform a diagnosis when participants may have been untruthful when taking the assessment (Craig, 2005). It is essential clinicians use assessment results with caution when making conclusions for a
Before the dentist even examines any patient “clinically” , a dental assistant will typically take radiographs, or “x-rays”, of the patient. One main type of a dental radiographic image would be a panoramic radiograph. Panoramic X-rays show a wide screen view of the teeth, temporomandibular (jaw) joints, sinuses, and the nasal area. These radiographic pictures show

This study will identify the knowledge regarding awareness of radiation protection on dental radiology 5.0 SCPOES Final year dental students who have fair amount of knowledge and experience of identifying dental radiology and also possible explanation, because they have been practicing last three years of their studying on clinical field. 6.0 LIMITATION In this study data will be collected in 2 months and the number of participates will be 69 Dentistry students Final Year, to avoid any difficulties the sample size equation didn’t use and when sample is used the calculation became less, if the sample size equation used and the number of students answer the question became less, it will affect the
This technology allows certified dental technicians to provide restorations on a computer screen, which makes the job easier. The fabricated material can be done in a single appointment and there is no need for temporaries afterwards. Some studies have also demonstrated that CAD/CAM restorations are stronger and less likely to fracture than the milled ones from traditional techniques (Kotrzewski). This type of dental technology is available to produce crowns, veneers, and bridges, which helps to improve oral appearance. The use of the digital impressions disregards some laboratory steps, which leads to a faster and more effective product.
As it has already been discussed in this paper, physicians are responsible for any clinical negligence that may cause harm or injury to the patient. In many journal studies researching radiology, various field cases have been identified and studied. They have shown that radiologists who have not been very often accused of clinical negligence have become in trouble. The errors committed while conducting their radiological work are sometimes caused by their lack of experience or out of their care. But in both cases, they are held to be liable and patients may file lawsuits against
Consistent, reliable and practical detection and assessment of dental caries lesions as an effect of dental caries disease has been a challenge for a long time. The caries can be observed on all surfaces of the primary, permanent, and mixed dentitions. Surface lesions can then be calculated according to the type of the teeth (molars, premolars, incisors and canines) or according to the surfaces (proximal, occlusal and free smooth surfaces) (Burt., 1997; Ismail., 2004; Pitts., 2004).
PERIPHERAL OSSIFYNG FIBROMA: CASE SERIES OF THREE CASE REPORTS INTRODUCTION Many variants of localized reactive lesions may occur on the gingiva, including focal fibrous hyperplasia, pyogenic granuloma, peripheral giant cell granuloma and peripheral ossifying fibroma (POF).1–3 The etiology of these lesions may be trauma, microorganisms, plaque, calculus, restorations and dental appliances.2,3 POF is a lesion that mainly affects women in the second decade of life.6 The lesions are most often found in the gingiva, located anterior to the molars and in the maxilla.7 POF clinically manifests as a well‑defined and slow-growing gingival mass measuring under 2 cm in size and located in the interdental papilla region. The base of the lesion may be sessile or pedunculated, the color is identical to that of the gingiva or slightly reddish and the surface may appear ulcerated. This paper presents a series of three case reports of POFs reported and treated at our college. CASE REPORTS CASE 1

[51] 2.4.13 Multi slice Helical Computed Tomography: When compared to the traditional computed tomography the Multi slice Helical Computed Tomography offers radiographic images of higher accuracy and resolutions. As Bennette and Maria note that this modality came with its advantages as greater detailing but had the limitations as delivery clear, which parented another modality as Dent scan Imagery which overcame the limitation which were with the Multi slice Helical Computed Tomography.[51,53] 2.4.14 Image Guided Radiography
A term diagnostic reference level is introduced by the ICRP Publication 73 in 1996. It is used to explain the reference levels based on ICRP concept and expanding ICRP Publication 60 recommendation in more
