The definition of censorship is the process of examining books and putting an end to the unacceptable parts within the book. Unfortunately, after some people view certain books they begin to feel animosity for the book and eventually wish to ban it. Banning a book is when one person disapproves of a book and believes no one should be able to read it. This is the case with the book Paper Towns. Paper Towns is a young adult fiction book by the author, John Greene. The protagonist Quentin is asked by Margo, his neighbor and in fact the most popular girl in school, to take his mom’s car in the middle of the night to help her play pranks on some of her so called friends who were disloyal to her. The day after, Margo is nowhere to be seen and is gone for multiple days going on weeks. After finding clues that are assumed to be left behind from Margo; Quentin, with the help of his friends, goes on a mission to find her. A parent believed the book Paper Towns, shouldn’t be on the eighth grade reading list because it contains the F-word, mentions of teenage sex and has references to girls as “honey bunnies”. As a result, Paper Towns was removed from Dr. John Long Middle School located in Wesley Chapel, Florida in the year of 2014. …show more content…

I believe women and/or mothers would want this book to be banned because they may not want their children reading the content in this book regarding teenage sex and explicit words. They may also refer to this book as a bad influence to their
