The battle has finally begun early in the morning of April 6th. The Confederates were the first to throw the first punch to start the war. He was shot in the leg and didn’t think that it was important to get it checked so he continued to fight in the war. Anyone would think that you will be okay from a bullet in the leg, but not for him.The amount of blood loss was absurd. The second day fighting the Confederate General Beauregard stepped up to the plate to replace General Albert. He was now in charge of running the Confederate troops to victory. The second day was also the last day and wasn’t looking good for the Confederate army so many of their men were either injured or killed. The General Beauregard told all of them that there is no need to continued, more and more of you will die it is time to surrender and give up. The Union troops were happy of course with their decision. This battle left the North and South in a deep shock
Fort Sumter The battle of Fort Sumter was the first major battle of the American Civil War. The battle lasted for April 12th to April 13th. Roughly 80 Union soldiers and roughly 500 Confederate soldiers were involved in the altercation. On April 12th Andersen had promised to surrender on April 15th but soon learned that that was not soon enough.
The War begins March 4, 1861. Major Anderson, the commander in charge of Fort Sumter, and 80 men, reported that the Confederate patience for having a foreign fort in its territory was wearing thin. On April 11, 1861 Confederate Brigadier General P.G.T. Beauregard sent 500 men to Major Anderson to demand the fort’s surrender. Major Anderson refused and the next day Confederates opened fire on the fort. The fort was continuously under fire for 34 hours until Major Anderson surrendered.
The second day is much worse for the Confederates. Lee, his judgment clouded due to poor health and heart trouble, rejects Longstreet's plan to swing around and cut the Union Army off from Washington. The fight needs to be here, he thinks. Instead, he sends Longstreet's forces to attack the Union flank, trying to seize some high ground—Little Round Top—in the process. On the Union side, Chamberlain's troops are just arriving.

On the night of April 2, 1865, the Confederate forces, including Lee, began moving towards Amelia Courthouse, where they requested supplies and decided to regroup after being attacked by Ulysses’s forces and cut off from supplies in Petersburg and Richmond. They arrived at Amelia Courthouse on April 4, 1865. They ended up not being able to get their supplies because Grant cut the supplies off.
The Battle of Shiloh was horrific for both sides of the civil war. The Union successfully managed to push the Confederacy back, however this would not be possible without the reinforcements of the Army of Ohio. The bloody battle began on April 6th in Pittsburgh Landing on the Tennessee river. Grant, commander of the Federal forces, awaited the Army of Ohio as his men were outnumbered. Aware that the Union had split men and reinforcements were on the way Johnston, the commander for the Confederate forces, set an early attack into play.
General Rosecrans noticed the large clouds of dust kicked up by Confederate force movement. This represented the first decision point of the battle. General Rosecrans managed to anticipate the Confederate attack plan and began to position his forces to counter it. Initial skirmishes began on 18 Sept as forces attempted to find the disposition of enemy forces. The terrain was a series of open forest and hills that restricted visibility and maneuver.
General McClellan made the South flee causing the Union to win another battle. In Mississippi General Grant led another battle to victory with the surrender of the Confederacy. General Sherman led the Union army in Savannah and destroyed the cities and broke the spirit of the Confederacy. This was another victory. The final battle of the Civil War was led by President Lincoln.
Though the battle may be called “Bunker Hill”, most of the fighting occurred on Breed’s hill. The British won the battle but there were a lot of deaths in the process, 268 soldiers and officers were killed and another 828 were wounded; this battle was a pyrrhic* victory for the British. *Pyrrhic- won at too great a cost to be worthwhile for the victor. The battle took place in Hardin County southwestern Tennessee. The Shiloh Battlefield is bordered by the Tennessee River, that is 650 miles long. The terrain consists of mostly of flat land and dirt paved roads, though some areas are very hilly. This terrain gave both the Union and Confederates about the same ground advantages. The Hornet’s Nest was an important event that happened during the Battle of Shiloh, the name given to the area of the Shiloh battlefield where the Confederate troops made attacks again and again against one of the Union’s troops to where by the middle of the day some Confederates had completely surrounded the one individual troop.
Antietam Battlefield Report The Battle of Antietam took place on September 17th, 1862 and lasted for only 12 hours. However, it was not only the bloodiest day of the American Civil War, but the bloodiest single day in all of American history (www.historynet.com). The most important Union officer that fought in the battle was Major General George B. McClellan. The Battle of Antietam was the only battle that Mr. McClellan fought from start to finish (www.civilwar.org). Ezra Carman, a Union colonel, recalled “more errors were committed by the Union commander than in any other battle of the war.”
The Civil War is considered to be the bloodiest episodes of warfare in American History. During this war, there were numerous well known battles. One of the most famous battles was called the Second Battle of Bull Run. The Second Battle of Bull Run was fought over August 28-30, 1862. It was the final day where the Confederates took a full assault with 12,000 confederates known as Pickett’s Charge which was a center line attacked against the Union. The Union held their ground using artillery fire and rifles which led to retreat of the confederates while successfully pushing them back south.
The Battle technically lasted 3 days, September 16-18 1862, although, the main fighting was only on the 17th. George McClellan was the Union General of the troops in that Battle, and Robert. E. Lee was the confederate General. Lee was at a disadvantage because his army was half the size of McClellan’s army. Both sides suffered about 10,000 casualties and the Battle was generally considered a tie, it was thought that the Union army could have shattered Lee’s army if they had pursued him back south.
Early in the War the Union won several key battles including Ft. Donaldson, Nashville, and the two-day bloody battle of Shiloh. They also captured bases for the blockade fleets and drove Confederate armies out of West Virginia but the
