I have always had a deep passion for helping others and making a positive impact on people's lives. And so, for years I looked into many, many careers where I can do just that; however, nothing ever stood out to me more than the field of nursing. The issue is that I am currently struggling on where, when, and how I will be able to pursue it. My ultimate plan is to become a registered nurse. As a registered nurse, my goal would be making a difference in the lives of others by providing comprehensive and compassionate care to patients, or nursing home residents, while promoting health, preventing disease, and helping to ensure healthier communities. I am excited about the opportunities that a career in nursing offers, including the ability to …show more content…
It would be a dream to become a pediatric nurse practitioner. I also understand that nursing is a highly specialized field and that it takes extensive knowledge, skills, and experience. I believe that RACC can prepare me for the field of nursing through their range of nursing prerequisites and programs. I plan to take a variety of courses and to apply for one of RACC’s nursing programs so I can build a strong foundation of knowledge. I believe that the nursing program here will be just right to prepare me because of its supportive environment, hands-on learning, provided clinicals, and much more. Then, to further my education from RACC, I would like to transfer to a university so that I can earn my bachelors degree in nursing. I know that RACC has many transfer agreements with multiple schools I am interested in, and I have heard that RACC does a good job helping students through the transfer process. Once I obtain my bachelors degree in nursing, I hope to gain work experience. Not only will this benefit me to become a more skilled nurse, but I will be able to save up for additional schooling. When the time is right, I would like to go back to school to gain my masters degree in nursing and work as a nurse …show more content…
The opportunity to win this scholarship really restored my hope of attending college for the fall. This scholarship will help me financially and in my academic and career goals in substantial ways. First of all, receiving this much financial support will allow me to attend college this fall. I don’t qualify for federal student aid due to my mom and step-dads high income, however, my mom has made it clear that they will not be putting anything towards my college education. Also, she will not be signing off any loans. On the other hand, my dad and step-moms income is much lower. Meanwhile, they have more people to support in their home. This includes my step-brother who is currently attending university. So, I am in a situation where I have no choice but to pay for college tuition entirely on my own. Secondly, covered tuition to RACC would support my transportation needs. I was not allowed to work until the summer of last year, and I currently do not have enough money to buy and maintain even a cheap car. If I were to attend RACC, I would have the ability to commute from my dad’s house. The distance between my dad’s home and RACC is only eight minutes. So, he has offered to help me with transportation to and from RACC. This way I can continue to save money for college and a car. Thirdly, winning this scholarship will give me the best opportunities to boost my nursing career and smoothly transfer into a BSN program at a university. Overall, a
But I’m also comforter, compassionate and great listener which is what most patient need when they’re not feeling well or dealing with life changing situation. Given my past experience starting with medial assisting I think this was the start of me making the decision to pursue nursing based on what I had learned and experienced. I also love the idea of working with my coworkers and the nurses and just being part of a team that took care of each other in the work setting as well as making sure you were also good outside of work it’s like having a family away from home. As far as my future goals nursing definitely fits in the picture as I hope to become a nurse educator at some point in my
I deserve this scholarship because of the ways in which this scholarship will enable me to continue and better my life-long goal to become a pediatric nurse. I plan to attend the college of my dreams, Texas Woman’s University. Before attending, I will need to receive money to keep me on the right track, but I have financial issues. I have two brothers already in college and I am the last and only one left. Because I have two brothers in college, it means less money for me.
I want to help people recover. I want to help be a step in their recovery. When I graduate high school I hope to graduate with my CNA’s and I can start as soon as possible. As a CNA I hope to make a difference.
I am driven and determined to have a career in nursing by becoming a student at NYU College of Nursing. My main source of inspiration to become a nurse comes from a deep desire to help people. Nurses have the ability to see people at their worst, while helping them become their best. This is the most rewarding experience and an experience that I want to obtain. Being a trilingual nursing student, I would love to use the skills I acquired in nursing to help the immigration population of NYC and translate for patients with language
My Intent to Be a Nurse Practitioner Coming from a third world country where there aren’t many opportunities for work and funding for education, proceding to nursing school was a grand opportunity. The privilege to attend a government subsidized school where top students in the region compete to get into the program that allowed only 60 students per year was indeed a blessing. As clinical rotations began, what was once considered a mere opportunity evolved into a true passion for caring as I truly love and enjoy nursing and helping people.
My journey to becoming a Registerned Nurse began in high school honestly. In high school, you have to chose a path that will lead to your career or at least a similar path to what interest you at the time. So the route I chose was the health care route, which I met an amazing teacher and registered nurse. My techer Mrs. High, was a huge influence to my choices even to this day. She once told me, “I believe you can do anything in life that you put your mind to
I have decided to pursue nursing and apply for the second degree accelerated nursing program; I consider myself a highly motivated individual with a value of strong work ethic. I can certainly distinguish myself as a person with numerous interests, a range of skills and goals. My Goals are to become a highly skilled nurse, work for the united state military and help save lives. Just like my father, I would love to provide a great humanitarian service, not for the pay or the glory or the recognition but to save lives, give hope, provide care, love and touch
I was not born into the world to do everything, but I was born into the world with great intentions; intentions to make a difference, to be an outstanding leader, ambassador, and advocate to serve and give back to the society. Ever since I have known myself, I have always wanted to become a nurse. A hardship that has made me stronger is, after my first semester in the pre-nursing
I just completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and look forward to exploring nursing theory, evidence-based practice and leadership even further in the advance practice curriculum. I am pursuing family nurse practitioner because it will allow me to be more versatile in my nursing skills and serve a larger patient population. There has been a focus on primary care medicine since the Affordable Care Act; resulting in a larger need for nurse practitioners required to care for this patient population. I have been granted an opportunity to advance my career and I am more than ready to take on the added responsibilities and handle treatment plans autonomously, as well as learning additional skills such as diagnosing and prescribing medications. By obtaining my graduate level education my clinical judgment would be enhanced to improve safety, quality of care and patient outcomes substantially.
Getting chosen to get this scholarship will me get more motivated to attend a 4 year college, and it will also help my parents. Due to living in a low income family, college can be very difficult. I come from a family where, we do struggle at times. Getting this scholarship will be an honor and will save my family and I money. My family is very supportive towards my career goals, which is to become a Register Nurse so I can help people around the world, and one day make an organization to help people whom also struggle.
This degree will acclaim myself as a registered nurse, this type of nurses are responsible for caring and educating patients about their current conditions and at best to help them improve by carrying out duties such as to “perform physical exams, provide health promotion, administer medications” (nursingworld.org) and much more. I strongly envision that this career choice fits properly for me. The decision to be someone that cares for people, someone who needs to commit to learn, someone designed to have the hunger to work further only seems justifying for myself. The inspiration to be this someone came from my parents, teachers, friends and especially coaches. My parents who always remind me to be the finest caretaker I can be in this big family, my teachers, specifically one of them is Ms.Kelly, who influences me to always output my best self and reminds me that I can reach heights in life, my loving friend, Austyn Ah Choy, who never fails to note to me that I have the ability to show everyone that I can achieve greatness, and lastly my softball coaches who never give up on me and who help build my engagement towards hard work.
I have a heart for service and a strong desire to make a difference in people’s lives. Becoming a nurse I will be able to fulfill my passion of making a positive impact on individual lives on a daily basis. I will be able to fulfill my nurturing and caring desires of helping others. I’m very passionate and fascinated with the medical field in all aspects. I strive for excellence, integrity and love interacting with all diversity of people.
Lastly, I also work hard out of the classroom at my current job to financially support my goal. However, the further I get in my studies and more time I take off work to devote toward school, the less money I have towards school expenses. Benefitting from this scholarship will help me tremendously, it will relieve any of my financial
This scholarship is a wonderful opportunity for students of GVSU, and I am honored to be considered for this scholarship. I believe that I am a great applicant for this scholarship, and that I deserve this scholarship. One reason I deserve this scholarship is because of my strong academic courses. Throughout my high school career, I pushed myself academically by taking a total of 10 AP classes and 7 honors classes. These classes were all challenging, yet I pushed through with determination to complete the classes to the best of my ability.
This scholarship would be best to me because I’m going into biology as a major. I chose biology because it is a very interesting subject to study. Biology to me is more than an interesting subject to study, due to my past. In the past I have sadly watched my grandpa, great grandpa and my friends mom pass away due to cancer. In biology I believe if I study and research enough and get a firm grasp on the information, I will be able to help cancer patients and their families suffer less.
